That was a beautiful airplane. It looked to me like it lost the engine nacelles. i wonder what caught fire at the crash site. Appears that both seperated before impact.

Ouch,

What a nice plane. Right before it hits, you can see the TE seems to be missing both elevons.

Looks like the lft nacelle, departs, it flips inverted at high speed, and the right comes off as well. Must have taken out the elevons as it looks like it is missing them when it goes in nose first. Tragic loss of a large beautiful plane.

The worst part of watching this video, for me, is that horrible few seconds after impact, when you're hoping and praying not to see smoke rising! Then, no such luck, that first plume of black smoke rises over the horizon and my heart just sank!

Condolences to the pilot!

That's a terrible thing to see to such magnificent plane. Hope the pilot bounces back.

Hi,

The guy who flew the plane is a friend of mine and it was like DocYates said, he lost parts and the rudders were destroid by them. The turbines were off at the time of the impact, but the lipo cells caught fire.
He lost the whole plane everything burnt down!! :-(

kind regards

Andi

Thats sad

I was trying to find a ARF that would use 2 18pound turbines after I first saw this amzing bird fly.

We can rebuild it better than ever right!!!

so where is the FEJ joke?[&:]

Anyway right after the jet went inverted it almost looked like the pilot was going to belly land it upside down.

Unfortunately, it was just a turbine powered yard dart at that point. Very sad.

Yep,

I wasn't gonna say it, but when it rolled inverted, I pictured Denzel Washington waking up in the cockpit and saying, "Alright. Trim everything DOWN!"

Bummer of a loss. Hats off to the builders/pilots. That's real modeling.

I could almost cry over this one... What a shame.  []  As mentioned earlier, the videographer did a fantastic job...  Hope a replacement takes to the skies!

I wish I could see more of it flying. The pilot was really making the plane look good in the air. Very smooth and graceful flying. No herky-jerky stuff. The plane looked majestic. Very sad. I'd probably go home and sit in a dark room for a week and not answer the phone.

Unreal. Sad to see such a work of art bite the dust.
