Congratulations on both your flight and your grandson. It took your daughter only 9 months to make her creation, what took you so long grandpa?

Vinnie is right you know, at least she works faster than you
My grandson is now 5 and he is really getting into planes so you better be prepared for that. I don't think he will be very patient waiting for a plane to be built so you may want to start now
Later!!

Oh Anthony! You BAD!!! You too VJ! You started it!
Hey, thanks guys. And you know what, I'm looking forward to teaching him to fly. I just hope he doesn't take after my own son who could care less about flying.
Oh, I almost forgot; Happy Summer Solstices Day!
Take care!

I've just got to show you my next little RC Pilot! I'd like to introduce you to Benjamin. Remember that name! (You can call him CFF Jr. if you like.)

Dave ,
Welcome to the Grandparents club . Congratulations on the birth of your grandson and the maiden of your Cub.
My grandchildren range from 4 months to seven years old , three boys and one girl. My daughter who gave birth to my only granddaughter(so far) 6 months ago is the only one of my children who does not fly. All my chidren had the oportunity to fly and the grandchildren will all have the oportunity to learn this great hobby that we enjoy .
I look at it as passing the torch and a really great reason to keep building more planes that my wife agrees with.

I can keep this alive. I just read Anthony's entire Waco thread over the last couple of months. Read a little bit each night like a novel. I just posted this in the brotherhood but will post here as well. Someone recently gave me a 1/4 Sig and I would like to convert it to an L-4. This one has a 2 piece wing. I am looking for help with the conversion. Also the fuse has some issues which need attention. I thought I'd ask for suggestions before I start removing the ply sides for replacement. Here it is.

Holey Cub Batman! [X(] It looks as though someone was concerned about weight!
Sorry, I'm not the one to ask, I just had to get that in there. Good luck!
Take care,
David

Thanks y'all,
I decided to remove the holey ply and redo it. Otherwise I will be trying to feather a smooth transition to the nose and fuse.

Well I ran the first tank of fuel thru my Gemini 160 this morning... I gotta say that is a very smooth running motor.. I am breaking it in as close to how the manual tell me to and it seems to be working...It started rite up and never skipped a beat... I doubt it is worth what I paid for it but then you gotta pay for the cool factor .. Now the next thing will be the maiden..

RE: Sig 1/4scale C/W Cub build
I'm getting closer to the end with my Cub build. I began covering today. I've never covered with fabric before, only film. I decided to use Solartex. I just covered the rudder and elevators today but it was amazing how easy the Solartex was to work with - especially compared to when I used monokote in the past. I'm probably going to try to get one of the wings covered in the next day or two.

Nice stuff isn't it! Be sure to use Pink-It as well, it really dresses the thing up nicely.
Hey, where are the pictures? I wanna see pictures!

I've got tapes on order from Greg at Pink-It - he's a great guy. His machine broke down before he could get my perimeter tapes cut so her personally called to let me know there would be a delay. He did go ahead and send out the rib tapes which look great. I'll post pics when I get a little more done - covered/unpainted rudder and elevators aren't exactly the most exciting things to look at.
On another point, I'm trying to figure exactly where I'm going to put perimeter tapes on the fuse. My build isn't really scale but I'm using it to learn some techniques and I can't figure out where perimeter tapes would be on full scale planes apart from the perimeters of wings, tail feathers etc.

I maidend my BUSA Cub Today... What a thrill....It needed two clicks of right ail and about 4 clicks of down to be hands off... That Gemini sounds so nice purring along... This is one of the nicest flying Cubs I have ever flown .. I am a happy camper... I was nervous until I got it airborne but it came off so easy and climbed out straight all my stress just went away and I started to really feel good...I WISH i had videos ..

Hey guys, I added another detail to my Cub, kind of a necessary detail. A weighted spinner.
Made from brass this spinner weighs in at just under 5.5 oz. I was able to have it fabricated where I work. The guy who had it made decided to make a few extra since he was at it, so I have a couple extra... just in case I guess.
Next I want to build areal[/i]dummy engine and get rid of the molded in engine on the cowl.
Where are a couple pics:
