Cindy and I would like to extend our gratitude to all those who worked so hard to make
our 1st ODP experience truly memorable. You guys are "Top Shelf"

It was great to catch up with old friends and get to know new faces better.

Many outstanding craftsman and beautiful planes came from far and wide and
I applause your dedication and commitment to modeling the many interesting aircraft of WW1.

But above all this is the comraderie and new friendships born. Along with
a lot of "verbal jousting" that took place all weekend that we will not soon forget.

We look forward to ODP 2014

What a weekend!!!

Helen and I are safetly back in Wisconsin (expressway closure and storms in WI notwithstanding)- will finish unloading the van tomorrow (WAY too tired tonight!!!).

Thanks to EVERYONE who made this year's event so much fun!! Got plenty of stick time in (considering I ran out of prep time on the 1/4 scale Pup) - thanks Tony and Paul and Randy and Jim (and everyone else who let me drive their plane around the airfield!!

The weather was a challenge at times (mid-days), but we had beautiful mornings and evenings, and a LOT of very pretty flying was on display!!

Lance, Art and Mike - thanks for posting pics and vids so early - my own camera was on the fritz, so I'm waiting with everyone else on all the coverage of the event this year.


Enjoyed catching up with old friends, and meeting new ones.

And hogzilla and chickenzilla did NOT die in vain (what a feast on Saturday)!!!

ODP . Thank you for the invetation to be a part of your outstanding event . Thank you , Paul , Micheal , Jeff . I hope everyone enjoyed the short time flights with the Camel ! Thank you Mike Wartman , Martin Justice , Lee McDuffy , Doug Blakeman , Travis , Jim , and all whom helped me with the half scale , I could not have flown it with out your support !

I talked to Bill B. late today and he was all keyed up and checking ODP videos from the last several years on youtube.
I have already started sharing the stories with some of the other club members, I keep trying to convince them somebody needs to buy a school bus built for hauling about 6 guys, and 20 planes.. hahahhhha

Wow...............ODP 2013 in the books.................man that week went FAST!

I am back at work getting much needed rest........

I want to Thank EVERYONE that came out despite the weather forecast.....I think we did a great job flying and socializing by "mother natures" influences.

The "talent" that showed up this year ...really makes a Event Director.....smile.....all you guys are awesome!

I also have some pics that my "better half" took....sooo some time this week I will post some of them.

Lance and Bill .....I hope we didn't scare you away for next year. There may have been times we were giving you "Raspberries" (code for crap)

like you have been with us for years....That's just because you guys were such a good fit for the extended Dawn Patrol family....... Hope to see you next year!

Thank you so much for bringing your "beast" out for ODP. You definitely were a "highlight" of the event!

I also want to personally "Thank you" for taking the time to
answer all the numerous questions about your build .....I had one of our clubs "founding fathers" (that started this club back in 1956)........He made it a point to tell me
at the event how great he was treated by one of our guests taking time to tell him all about his build... answering all his questions, not making him feel like he ever asked a "stupid" question........ There are so many people that get a smile on their face when you pull up with your rig! You are a very talented pilot... no disputing
But I think your greatest quality that people are drawn to you.......is because you are a "giver" and not a "taker".
You will help ANYONE regardless of YOUR situation. You will give your time, expert opinion, tools, a hand....whatever a fellow Dawn Patroller needs and those qualities
are getting harder and harder to find these days. (I better stop now because Norm is going to give me his signature line)...."Paul you can really lay it on thick!" LOL!!!

Cindy,I really enjoyed making "campfire somores" with you...even with your husband thinking there was a "booger" on his. LOL!
I pretty sure he was more suspicious about me than you.......... It's not really a big deal anymore, I just dubbed it "collateral damage"

Looks like a great event and I love the WWI planes. We have our Dawn Patrol down here in Ga not till December. I hope to have a nice WWI plane by then. :-)

We had your accommodations all set up with a giant 4 man tent (thanks Jeff C.) and beds, pillows, sheets the works...

I want to "Thank" my brother Joe that took time out of his busy schedule to come to ODP and re-certify the D6.
He is pretty much a "Jet Jock" now.......But most of you seen him fly the 1/4 scale D7 "rocket ship" ...it looked to me.. he was having a good time ...Maybe we may have a shot of pulling him back to the "dark side"...........maybe

Guys,
This is Scott from the Mid Atlantic Dawn Patrol. I am so sorry we could not make your event. I had to go to New Orleans for A funeral two weeks before your event. It was unexpected and that just about killed my leave and play money. I was all packed up and ready, till I got the call. Mike didn't want to drive alone.
I wanted to go and support your event. I have been looking at this thread and it looks like you guys had a ball. I see some awesome planes.
Are you guys still going to make the Mid Atlantic Dawn Patrol? The event is still going to take place. We have some high end sponsors this year to go along with Glenn. BUSA will be on site as well.
Again I am sorry for being missing in action. You can harass me at the MAD Patrol

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm glad to read both of you are fine.
I do not know how many of us will be down in the "war wagon". But rest assured I will be coming back (someone has to keep GTM in line!)
As for harassment......oh you may get some around the camp fire....AND this time why don't you leave the "Cup Cake Queen" at home.....unless you need her help

I, too, am glad to hear that you both are ok........funerals are a part of life, my condolences to you and your family.
I am also glad to hear that your MAD Patrol will be held again this year.......it was a blast last year.

But I cannot wait - no I WILL NOT WAIT until your event to start with the harassment!
