Depends how you fly, I could fly longer with a P-180RX than I do with a P-120SX...
Power on time is less, when fuel burn is high, you can throttle off with something as clean as an UF and it keeps moving. You can easily fly 7 1/2 minutes with a P-180 and with my mixed speed flying I'd see 8+
Flying around with the throttle wide open requires no "skill" The UF Snaps and spins well, flies great slow. I sell way more airframes from showing it flys slow that someone who shows it flys fast!

Dave, the slow flying characteristics is actually what made me get another UF. It's very impressive in the hands of a capable pilot. With that said, I like the thought of having the extra power for transitioning from slow flight to vertical... it's like having a lot of torque. That is probably still doable with a 120/140, no?

My P-120SX model would only need a short straight run and I could still accelerate vertically. My model was build light, Powerbox Sensor switch, no air gauges to tell you what the air pump just did, no heavy brackets or needless "bling"

I still say, a P-140RX is perfect, but a 180 with sensible throttle use would be no issue and amazing vertical punch

so 180RX it is.. cant wait to finish the build.... im using electron retracts and wheels with pro links...i wish the stab was a wee bit thicker to accept an 8511.. i have run out of 8411s and have to now buy 2 for the elevator..  I wonder if there is any other servo that can fit in that area?

I used Hitec 5955 (now 7955) for the elevator in my classic Flash. Had to sand a bit, but it worked. My new UF has 8411 in the stabs.

We used 7955TG in our UF also, had to remove a small section of the Nomex on the upper skin but once removed we just covered the area with two layers of glass cloth. Finally got to fly my Classic and my Dad's UF back to back this weekend at Jets over Pampa.....safe to say my Classic is going up for sale I couldnt believe just how much more precise the UF feels compared to the older design, slow speed aero's are just amazing compared to my Classic.....were running a Jets Munt Merlin 140 and with mixed flying get around 7 mins with some mid throttle aerobatics and the odd fast lap / pass, Ive never flown a Bandit / Ultra Bandit / Ultra Lightning etc so I cant really say its the best Sport Jet ever but I'd guess it'd be up there with them, really popular airframe this weekend with 5 of the 10 - 12 sport jets there being CARF Flash / Ultra Flash airframes.

After about 30 flights I finally figured out the best way to land this thing at my field. It lands super slow and very easy now. K100 is plenty for my field because it gets from end to end in a hurry. Hopefully it will survive the summer and she can get a facelift and new paint job to fix her battle wounds.

Jame, I couldn't agree more with you regarding the flying qualities of the UF but looking at that gorgeous Yellow/Red classic reminds me that I've ALWAYS like the looks of the classic more. There's something about those straight wings with tip tanks that launches my missile.

Hi,

Im thinking about trying a crow setup on my UF, radio is a DX18qq. How do you configure it? Im guessing I need to select flaperon option? I just wanted to make sure before I went that route as the flaperon option changes the receiver port setup quite a bit. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I have a p-80se in my ultra flash and am looking to swap to a 140rx. Does anyone know if the 140 will bolt right in place or am I going to have to redrill things. I was thinking that the 80 and 140 were the same size but I can't find a pic of them together

I think the 140 will be a bit longer (depends on your starter motor) but it might bolt in place anyway. Its more the glow plug hole to tailpipe relationship!

I have a small amount of crow (ailerons 5mm up) when setting full flaps. Flaps at about 95mm down. I feel very comfortable with this setting.

Don't really want go to thru the 127 pages but i was wondering does anyone got the new Kingtech 140G in use in this bird?

There is a lot going on about these engines, but would like to hear something from the guy's really using them.

And what about the stock UAT that comes with the kit? Use it or forget it?

The kit hopper tank works fine, but buy a MAP Bubble Trap as I use and no effort and 100% results. Bigger version of what I sold you for the Habu...

i have a K140G waiting to be installed. I have not test run it yet. Got several comments from folks in this thread that I should have no qualms about a king tech. I am also planning to use the map bubble trap. There was one person in California that had his felt clunk solidify using diesel, so I plan to watch for that as I want to run diesel as well.

I finally maidened mine today, 230mm CG (wheels down) 27mm TO flap, 75mm landing flap, flew perfectly, only minor elevator trimming for each flight mode, no aileron trim needed, using a JC Super Eagle, compared to the classic (I had two), this one is so slick that at one third throtle, it flies the pattern fairly fast, on the classic you always felt the plane being held back by drag, not on the Ultra, 30 lbs thrust is adecuate for the classic, to me, on the ultra, it's overpowered which I did like. The flaps do really slow the plane down, yet, unlike the classic, plane does not get mushy on full flaps on the landing final. Great airframe! felt super solid in the air!
