Must be nice to have all that space in your shop now! The Toryu looks great. Can't wait to see her fly at NAMFI.

Thx for posting Dave. Camera still M.I.A.

Doug, you need to take a couple more before I really have room. After all, now I have to build a new project for the 7 Cyl Evolution radial!

Hi Bill, I currently have no WWI in my stable. Want to build the Albi, but need to finish a couple other projects first.

Found my camera, so here iis a couple of shots of the finished fuselage. I decided to mask and paint all of the graphics, had some bleed under the tape, but overall turned out well. It looks very model like, so I will need to do some weathering on this bird, which will help hide some of that bleed under.

Still awaiting paint for the wing and my spinneer adapters from Tru-Turn (Almost a month overdue[:@])

Thx Vic, can't make WOTR this year. With the date change, it interferes with my trip to Indiana Warbird Campaign.....

Chuck, you looking for a pallet for your airbrush skills[X(]

Jeff, looking real nice. Next stop, the camo. Looking forward to it. You went with latex huh? I know Roy Vaillancourt swears by that stuff, easy to work with. I tend to like the Klass Kote process myself though. A bit more money but way tougher. Anyway, looks real nice so far.

Thx John, no cammo here. This version wall all Grey/Green. I have never been a fan of the Japanese jungle cammo scheme (ziggy-zaggies). I used Tamiya AS-29 IJN Grey/Green. It is an enamal based paint in 3 oz. spray cans. A bit expensive, but delivers great results. Now I just need to dirty it up. I use a lot of latex, and it works very well (Behr preferred) but these Tamiya paints are so nice, that if they have the standard color, I tend to use it these days as well. Here is the scheme I am after:

Too bad you can't make WOTR this year. Would have loved to have seen your new bird.

I was airbrushing my Spandau machine guns last night with Tamiya Gun metal. It is great paint and sprays very nicely. Maybe if you spray from the bottles it might be cheaper than the rattle cans? Airbrush setups are pretty cheap, if you do not already have one, and would probably give better results.

True, but I am too lazy to mix it all up. The spray can bombs work exceptionally well. It's just so clean right now it looks like a plastic model. Needs dirt; that is when I will pull out my airbrush.

Hi John, yes, the plane is all painted/finished and I am preparing to run up and tune the engines this weekend. I still need to balance it (after run-ups). I have 4 of big fly-in coming up in Aig and Sept., and I have spent the last several weeks prepping and test-flying my birds for these shows (I still have 3 planes I have not even flown yet this year). So, it may be late Sept. or early Oct. before I can maiden the Ki-45. I can't believe summer is mostly blown by....

I plan to post pictures at the field when I run up the engines (less the cowls).

Thx for chekcing in.

Jeff

OK, Busy 6 weeks with fly-ins, but just a picture of the center ter section all buttoned up and ready to go. Only thing left is to balance. I still need to run motors and taxi it around. After the Air Supremecy event in Elkhart, IN, I plan to dedicate the rest of the year to getting the Ki-45 airborne.

Took it t our scale meeting last week. Firttime all put together. Appears to balance near perfect with no lead. I need to move thebatteries and double chcek the CG. It will fly this spring and has actually been ready since last August, but with so many fly-ins in last Sept., was just too busy to mess with it. The designer, Dave Andersen too some pics at the meeting that I will post here tonight. Keep watching as it will happen. Thx

Jeff

Looks great Jeff! Can't wait to see it fly. We all admire the bravery of the few who tempt fate with a tail dragger twin!

I'm surprised you won't be needing any lead. Many round engined twins can be a real challenge to balance. You must have made that tail pretty light.

Yep Todd, I am surprised as well. Dave did design the tail light, but still caught me by surprise. We will see on the final CG. Looking forward to testing this thing. Thx

Jeff, that is one good looking model. I'm looking forward to getting that set of plans when they're available.
