Default Cooper!! Morphed F-86 is back after 8 years

Greg if your reading this I bet you have a big smile on your face

Your F-86 has gone full circle and its back getting re-polished and some paint touch ups. I cant believe how good this BVM Jet looks after 8 years of being in the field... The new owner Andy, took it to Top Gun this year and he took 3rd in his class even though it needed to be polished out since it had never been done once it left our shop and like its solid counter part it doesn't take long for aluminum to start tarnishing. Now he is getting it ready for another tour..

I dug up some photos of when we first applied our Aluminum plating to the F-86 and a few more at Metal-Morphours Inc today as we finish up some detail work before we do the paint work.

Greg I will say it again,,, beautiful build,,, Bob V from BVM, absolutely one of the best jet aircraft we have work on and this one is a testimonial to the longevity of your aircraft..

Oh and did I mention that our aluminum looks as good as it did 8 years ago[8D]

After seeing Andys F86 at TG I can say its much better looking then flight metal. Then adding the small screws on it made it that much better. Great work

Looking good Ron! I added a lot of scale features to the build. A couple of things include, vents on the fuse, air scoops on the fuse, new pitot tubes and probes, hidden hatch latches, filled in large gaps between the hatch and the fuse, new CNC milled nose wheel, scale civilian lights, etc. It's really cool to be able to send the jet back and have it morphed to match the finish already on the jet. The jet caught a lot of attention at Top Gun. You will definitely get additional business from guys who see this.

After we re-plated a few areas, the f-86 paint work is being freshened up. Andy also added more details that we enhanced and he sent us some full scale photos that show more star than what the original scheme had so we had to set up new mask and paint the on. It will be coming out of the paint room today and Ill set it up and take more photos before sending it back to Andy.

Looks Awesome Ron! Now pack that bad boy up and let me know when the freight company can come get it. I need to put all of the nomenclature back on and do some finishing touches before sending it to Switzerland.

Call me!

Thanks Rich!

Here are some pics comparing the full scale wing where the aluminum is a different brush shading on the full scale verses the model. I think it turned out pretty good.

Note: the masks on the wing are going to be redone to match the scale pics.

Hey Andy,

I don't want to burst your bubble but i do believe that the center section of the wing on the real one has actually been painted with an aluminum paint to keep down the corrosion level. As this is the main walking area on the wing.

Andy glad you caught the markings in the wrong spot. The first thing I saw when I looked at the pics was o crap hes going to get dinged hard for the markings........ Then the next post you said you are redoing them

No bursting of bubbles at all. You are correct. I had to verify it with the maint. company who worked on the jet. That portion of the wing was painted no so much due to that being a walking area but because it was a different type of metal that wouldn't polish out to match the leading edge and trailing edges. Also the whole bottom of the wing and the tanks were painted. My model will be painted in these areas to reflect the scale bird.
