Default Truggy rebuild

I know there is a truggy category but everyone that I talk to is in here.
So here are some pics of the COMPLETE rebuild og the Losi truggy I got off eBay, man this thing was in bad shape, I replaced just about everything on this thing. From the arms, every bearing, hingepins, all driveshafts brakes radio tray, chassis was a knife edge in the rear, the shocks were full of mud, the suspension balls were wore down to nothing. It looked like this thing sat in a duststorm from hell. Whoever owned it befor me never ever maintained it they just kept bandaiding the poor thing. Well its just about brand new now. I was fotunare enough to use some parts from my original 8ight.1.0 so she was an organ doner...lol... anyway hope you guys enjoy what little rebuild pics I have.

That is awesome! Good for you bringing it back to life (awesome feeling, eh?).Did you throw on any aftermarket/Losiupgrades?

What is setup...and have you fired it up yet? ;-) Good stuff!

The front diff already had the hd diff case and the lightened outdrives, the center and rear were the factory ones and they were toast, so I went with the hd and light oudrives for those. I replaced the front and rear ring and pinions too along with the 50 tooth lightened spur gear.

Im waiting to get servos, transponder and an engine and pipe. Probably a Novarossi as usual for me IMO they are the best quality. It will be alive and on the track competing very soon. This winter I have something up my sleeve for engines on both my buggy and truggy..

Sweet! Im starting to get interested in 1/8 trucks and I want to get another Losi. The 8-T 2.0 looks cool. Do you know if Losi is making a 8-T 3.0. I would want to wait until maybe christmas. What color are you gonna paint the body?

I know Losi is in the works for a new truggy. Im not exactly sure when but its possilbe I may find out more in August if I can get any hints from some friends that run for the team.

The body will have a matching theme with my buggy, as soon as I get ahold of my painter.

I think my diff setup is 5 7 3..... I honestly cannot remember, it might be 7 5 3...lol sheesh...I dont remember. But either way the diffs and ring and pinon need to be broke in because its all new so after a day og running at the track its all gotta be changed out, then ill note it.

How do you break in your diffs? Do you hold the car down on one side and throttle...then repeat other side? Or is it okay just to run them per normal?

Also, do you run/recommend aluminum bearing spacers?

Thanks

Actually, I just run the vehicle as normal for a day, then change the fluids. that's it!!

The aluminium inserts for the rear?...yes strongly recommend them....belive it or not shim the ring and pinion tight....very tight to where it's crunchy. After a couple races it will turn like butter (only this tight on a new ring and pinion) if its used when you install them, make it as close as you can without it crunching when you turn both rear wheels....

Thanks, that is good info to have. I'm swapping all 8ight 2.0 diffs with theHD integrated inserts.Trying only one on my 810 (I've heard they are a bit heavy) so will put on there only as a re-active approach.

What clutch setupare you going to run (based on the engines you are considering)? I like the Losi clutches...I wish they had a little more tuning options but they are quality.

Not too sure wbat clutch setup Ill run, I have 4 aluminium flywheels and 5 or 6 steel flywheel s all with different clutch setups, Ill just end up trying them out till I fing the one I like for it. More than likely Ill ask the guys running the Losi truggys and start with the one they use...probably the 2 composite shoes with black springs and 2 aluminum long wears with green or the gold springs.

I hope to have it ready in a couple weeks when I go to Indiana so I can run it at the Michigan State Championship Series and run with Dakotah. The truggy classes here arent that big so I may get a chance to run with him again.

How's the rebuild going? Have you got to run it yet? I'm eager to hear what setups you find are working well.

Not yet....haha I've hit a brick wall for now. Still need an egine and pipe, servos and a transponder. Im actually too busy with racing right now to have time. This weekend is the Michigan State Championship Series round 4. After this weekend the racing takes a break and ill get to it very soon and let you know what setup I like for it. It wont be long bud.

The truggy has been doing great, its only seen two races so far but drives like a dream. I went with an Adam Drake setup to start with other than the clutch setup and the shocks. I'm running all aluminium long wear clutch shoes with two green springs and two black springs with a steel flywheel. so far so good.....
I'm running 54 pistons in the front with 42.5 associated oil. For the rear is 56 pistons with 27.5 associated oil. but the standard for the springs front: black rear: gray.
