Default Seamaster twin cowls

I finally got around to getting the cowls done on my twin seamaster. I started them last year and finally got it done. I used the tops of 1.5 liter pepsi bottles and a wood plug. I drilled a hole through the wood plug and placed a rubberband seal around the base of the plug. I put the pepsi bottle top over the plug and used a heat gun to heat the bottom and seal against the rubber band and then attached a vacuum to the bottom hole and as I heated the plastic it shrunk and form- fitted the plug. After it cooled I used the air compressor to blow through the hole and help remove the cowl and cut to shape and attach. Since the engine had outthrust on each one, I needed to modify the plug in between the sides. I used black rustoleum paint after wet sanding the cowls. I have flown it once with the cowls so far and it seams to work great. I dank a lot of pepsi to get enough bottles to get it right.

Have you flown it off the water yet? I would like to know how it performs, and if you experienced any spray problems.
Thanks,

Yes, she is flight worthy. I have quite a few flight on it so far. It handles the rough water pretty good. There is no spray except for flying off pretty rough water. I have a build thread of it and on page 3 are the flight videos. They were on flat water but I did fly the plane on small whitecaps before and there was a little spray but as soon as it got on top of the waves (2-3 seconds) it just bridged the waves and took off. Here is the build thread: [link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10949870/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm[/link]

That looks amazing ! And you aren't having issues with the props sucking up water bad? It looks so much better than the pylon mounted style.. Great Job , I would love to see video of it flying someday.

No problem with spray. It does pretty good in pretty rough water. I have some video on youtube of course it is on smooth water. I have a link from my build thread. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/seap...win-build.html The first flight was on post #66 before being trimmed out. These videos were without the cowls.
