WACO YMF
RE: WACO YMF
Had the waco out today, and had a little misshap. I have Robart wheels and they are just way to soft. I landed in long grass and she ended up on her back. Minor wing damage to repair. Stickbuilders spar mod would have prevented the damage I took. Any wheel suggestions out there for the best wheels to use. I was thinking of just going with dave brown foam wheels. What do you guys use?

RE: WACO YMF
Waco YMF Barth 1/3
I got lots of good input on servos, etc from members. Then I took the cheap and dirty approach. Hitec HS-805BB for elevator and rudder. Located them in turtle deck. Elevator servo mounted upright and connected to an arrow shaft with 4-40 rod and on the back end of arrow shaft to elevator halves with 4-40 rods to each. Glued 4-40 rods to arrow shaft with JB Weld. For rudder and tail wheel, I mounted the servo upside down on same rails used for elevator servo. Will run pull-pull cables. No walking beam used. I understand the benefit but think I can get away without it. Photos included. Undecided on gluing in servo rails or making them bolt on. Baggage hatch will allow access from top. From underside access possible behind pilot. Not as clean as I would like.
Working stringers. Decided to make a drawing of former notches using velum right over the plan and cutting it out and putting it on former. Easier for me than trying to measure and better than guessing. So far pretty straight but not perfect.
For power, I went cheap. Just ordered a new Evolution 152GX, a 152cc twin on EBAY. I believe it is from a Czech manufacturer and know little about it except that it was offered from Horizon and withdrawn. Now looking for mufflers.

Putting a servo upside down is going to be very difficult to access through the cockpit.
Have a look at my setup for my elevator servos. They will be very easy to access through the luggage compartment door.
The servo tray is also completely removable.
Just a suggestion.

You requested some pictures.
Here are a couple. I haven't done much lately. I have painted the fuse with 2K paint with 10% plasticiser added to avoid the paint crazing on the fabric.
I am busy getting ready to cover and paint the wings. I am deliberating the navigation light issue prior to covering them.
Not much done lately I am afraid, but as they say slowly, slowly, catch a monkey.
Regards

Sorry, for some reason the pictures weren't uploaded, and it won't allow me to edit the post.
I will try again.

Errol, she is looking just great, building skills are showing up real nice. Did you find it took a lot of work and subsequently weight to fill the weave in the Koverall?

Hi Terry
I am using Solartex It's a wonderful product to use. Works like a charm.
The weave is still very visible. I will give it a light sand then another light undercoat and then sand again and then two top coats. There shouldn't be a weight issue.
I am using a Saito 5 cylinder radial which should haul it around pretty comfortably.

Thanks. Agree. My thoughts when I roughed it in were to have minimum number of pieces and a straight shot back from servos to elevator and rudder. But it does make the rudder servo horn and cable adjustments inaccessible once servo package is dropped in place. There is a way to allow the servo package to be bolted in place from open baggage door (which I have not come up with yet- just a bunch of stringers in the way now). Rudder adjustments would need to be made from back connections. Need to think more about it.

RE: WACO YMF
The third scale Barth Waco is a BIG bird. I'm getting anxious to get working on it this fall when we get back to Florida. This summer, once we get done with all the work associated with moving into a town home, I will cover/paint the rudder, elevators, and cowl since I was able to squeeze them in the car this spring.

Has anyone been on here since the upgrade. Looks ok, a little different, we'll see I guess. I tried an email link and it didn't work. No new posts as of yet, to try lets see what happens.

I’ve been trying for days with no luck. Just figured how to get back on. All my favorites are no longer working and I don’t see any of the pictures any more. On page 1 the index is no longer working. I can’t help to think about the saying (if it ant broke don’t fix it)

Hi guys, my first comment about the new site would be that where are the thumbnail pics now?!! We need to see the thumbnails of the pics on the post, and not have to click on each individual photo, which then opens a popup window for each image. i don't like this new feature, as it is a step backwards.
I am seeing the thumbnails. It seems some are having compatibility issues with the new server.
It may take them a few to get all the bugs worked out. So far I find it a bit laborious just trying to navigate around. Also I cannot stay logged in. If I am off for more than a few minutes I have to login again.
Later!!

Thanks Ken, I'm also now seeing thumbnails. However, when I log in it takes me to my account page, rather than to the page I was just looking at. Also does not stay logged in, as before.

Chuck,
I have used Getstencil.com in the past when Gary Siebert owned the business. He sold that portion of the business a few years ago. The mask were very easy to work with and did a great job. I believe they are still using the same materials that Gary used.

I don't know about anyone else, but I hate what they have done to this site. All my preferences are gone and I can't begin to understand how to reconfigure my preferences.

I agree, this site is a TPITA now. It used to be the most user friendly forum out there.
Just going thru the Login is a PITA and you can't stay logged in. Hopefully they correct these issues pretty quick. I will have a new build going soon and if they do not fix the issues I will post elsewhere.

If so, at the top of the page in the column that has your avatar click on settings, scroll down just a little on the left is a my subscriptions box, in it is subscriptions-click it. That should be your subscribed threads, but it can post one of two ways first is the subscriptions that have had post. For all of your threads irregardless of post just click subscriptions again
