Default DLE 55 Weight

Does anyone know the weight of the DLE55 with the ignition, stock muffler, and srtand offs? I am building an 80" Midwest Extra kit and would like to go with a gas engine. I had one 5or6 years ago with a Moki 210 that flew well but I want to go gas on this one. I want to see if the DLE is close in weight to the Moki.
Thanks,
Jim

Thanks for the links. If I add up the numbers the side Exhaust weighs 3#7.7Oz. and the rear exhaust weighs 4#4.28oz. It seams odd that the rear exhaust weighs 12.5 oz. heavier than the side exhaust. Also one lists the ignition as 4.2 and the other 5.1. Which number is correct?
Does anyone have a DLE55 side exhaust they can weigh?

Jim,

I had one of those planes 20 years ago. powered by the Moki 180 as recommended. It was very heavy (around 16 pounds) and flew heavy, stalling on landing way too easily. Wing is just too small at 1100 squares for the weight. This model should not weigh more than about 13 lbs to fly well with that smaller wing......I still have the plane and if someone wants it I'll give it away for the S+H. I need the room....direct contact at my address and it'd be better if someone in Jersey just picked it up

Anyway.....The Moki 180 weighed around 38 ounces as I recall. I think the 210 weighs around 40 ounces give or take. The DLE, engine only, weighs 47 1/2ounces, so weightwise you are looking at around 1/2 pound more for engine alone. Add the CDI and battery and you will add another 1/2 pound plus. Assume the mufflers are a wash.

Powerwise the Mokis put out about 4 1/2 HP. The DLE is closer to 6HP so you will have plenty of power. The problem is adding one more pouind or more to an already heavy, smallishplane. I don't think you will like the way it will fly.....But that's my personal experience and yoursmay be different

Let me suggest that you use the DLE55 on a plane with at least 300 squares more wing area and18 pounds, tops

It has been a while but it seems my 55's weighed in at 3-3/4 lbs W/O battery. I have no idea what the rear exhaust version weighs, but find it really hard to believe that it is over a pound heavier, Unless it is the muffler itself that weighs in so much.

I used the DL-50 in my Midwest Extra 300 which is a great match.
BTW I am looking for a wing & set of plans for the Midwest Extra 300 80 inch span, if anyone has one they want to part with please get in contact with me.

I have a Midwest Extra with a G38 Magneto Engine. It is 16+ pounds and under powered. I am putting in a dle55 to save weight and increase power.
