Man sucks not being able to edit. Things are going slow again, I had in-laws here all weekend and having to study some at night for work. Looks like this weekend is a wash as well [:'(] but I did start the tear down before the final setup. I took the nose section off and disconnected the airlines going to the man gear doors/brakes. I did this to lube all the air cylinders and do one final leak check before the final install. With everything out of the jet I can install the landing gear supports I made, throw in some carbon cloth to strengthen a few areas to my liking as well. Once this is done I will cut the two holes for the tank vents and start reinstalling everything for the final time. That will leave the final setup/balancing and attaching the aft thrust tube mounts. That will bring me to test flights and last but not least the mods required for external stores mounting.

I did hook up the Robbe/Futaba battery backer this weekend and solder on my multiplex leads to my battery leads. This setup was nice a simple, I do have a few 18mz questions about dual receivers with a power system that has receiver switching but its easy to setup.
I really like how simple it is to adjust voltages and alarms which have a nice loud buzzer if things are not going right[X(], you can have different voltages for every port with adjustable alarm settings as well. It keeps track of amp loads (min/max) during the flight which can be view using the SD card. Very cool to see what kind of servo loads you getting inflight, this will tell you real fast if you are lacking on servo for a particular control. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting the optional external LCD to use instead of just the supplied magnet switch, programming would be a big pain and the only way to view data would be to download to you pc via the SD card. With the LCD you can view everything at the jet after each flight if you would like, plus it keeps up with MAHs used.[8D]

Yeah I did a little today, flustration set in so I took a break, I ran into a area that I'm having to fix which I know could be an issue for a few people that have this same version of the jet. I will post a video tomorrow once I come up with a solution. I decided not to add blocks to the main gear, but the back to bulkheads the rudder and elevator attach to will need some love. Work has been keeping me busy and I haven't felt motivated to do much lately, sorry.

Ok, you went quiet for a little while so was just checking. Just got in from flying all day. Had a great time, but very hot here right now.

Yeah its been super humid here, this place is worse than anywhere I have lived, temps have been low but the humidity makes it feel horrible LOL Glad your flying some I havent flown in about 2 months, no place local to fly anyway. I did fly over a place that looks like a possible place but I have to check with the Army first, its a UAV strip so maybe I can start a club up here or something. If things work out I dont plan on staying here long after the deployment, I plan to head back that way as soon as possible after the deployment.

Small bump in the road and for anyone who has this jet I would suggest you check this area.

What deployment? Are you getting ready to deploy?

Yeah we hand over our aircraft in October and start taking some block leave in November to head out in December for eastern afghanistan for another 12-15 month deployment. We maybe closing the place down not sure if anyone is coming over after us. I leave a week from Monday for some training out in Texas followed by a gunnery in September, which is making GA Jets look like a no go for me.
At the rate im progressing on the build I want have anything to fly anyway lol

I added the Robbe Sbus male end to the lead that goes to each wing. The wing has the female connector from earlier post, it took me a few to figure the things out. I had to cut about 5 feet of left over lead which is a bit of weight since these wires are sooo thick.
Also I recommend a small amount of solder, I dont have a crimping tool for these and most probably will not either.

Oh please, I didnt say anything that you cannot find out on the local news or the units website, which anyone can see! Deployment Opsec, give me a freaking break!
And get your facts straight, what your talking about falls under OPSEC not SERE two completely different things.

Did you try a test on the electric retracts yet with weights to simulate wind resistance?

I have put resistance on them, they seem to work fine but only time will tell. More force than my f-16 for sure and that gear was heavier on more complex.

I managed to get a little done today, its amazing how long I can spend just trying to organize everything and make leads LOL
I added my airline connectors so if I ever need to remove the nose I can do so without cutting lines. I made some two wire extension for the main gears electric motors to run up to the control box in the nose. I am trying to keep these short so to prevent losing power due to long leads.
Tomorrow I will be laying up some carbon fiber cloth inside the tail and some other places for extra support. Once the layup hardens enough to remove all the peal ply and balloons I will be reinstalling everything balancing the jet. So after I get back from trip I can just setup the radio and run the turbines in prep for the first flight.

Added the vent lines for the fuel system, just a typical brass tube setup. These will be hidden by the inside wall of the inlets and will be removable so if I need to remove the nose section later for any reason. the inside will have a small thin ply to give the brass tube something to bond to instead of just the skin.

Fender,

You might want to put a 45 degree scarf cut on the vent tubes to maintain positive pressure.

They are angled forward for that but I was considering adding the angle like I did with my F-16. Some say its pointless but ram air can only help with reduce the pumps load.
