For all of you FAI flyers, we will be flying P15. If enough competitors want to, we will also fly F15 on Sunday. If someone only wants to fly P and the rest want to fly F, we will figure out how to normalize the results for trophies.

Our contest is only a week away! Remember to bring a buddy who hasn't flown pattern before, a we will have a non-turnaround Novice class. That sequence is in post 3 above. This contest looks like it will be well attended, so it should be a lot of fun! See you Friday the 13th for practice!

Hotel Info:

For reference, we are near the intersection of Airport Rd and Memorial Parkway. Nothing in Huntsville is further than about 15 to 20 minutes from the field.

So after my fun flight from Charlotte to Huntsville (delayed a couple of hours waiting for them to get the 2nd motor to run), I was able to get a couple of trim flights (F-15) on Jon's Proteus that he's loaning me for the contest. Now that we had breakfast it's off to the field for some more practice.

Contest is starting to shape up. Helped Jon set up the poles, got some more practice in and picking up trophies in the morning. Scott Smith came out again with his 202. He had to do a quick cable fix on the rudder (never a good thing to kick your rudder before taking off lol) then a couple of flights before the rain came. Jon got a few in as well and improved even though Gary and I were harassing him during his flights (it was a helpful harassment I promise ). One thing we learned today, sadly at the expense of a fellow club member, was don't visualize a wrong input. John took it in stride and will have a replacement in no time. Never think zig (pull) when you need to zag (push).
tomorrow more pilots will be arriving for some early practice and the weather should be perfect all weekend.

The winners are ... all that are here lol. We still have a round (maybe 2) today, but some classes are actually final after 4 rounds yesterday. The weather is perfect with just a light wind and mid-70's. 22 pilots are competing and the Kid Crew from the Eglin area has another pilot, Carson, who has only been flying for about 4 months and seems to be hooked on pattern already.
