Default Planning a road trip through the US

Hello, and my wife and I are planning a road trip through the States to visit a couple of new friends.
Coming from Edmonton, Alberta in Canada, we will be passing through Minot, Minneapolis, Chicago and our first visit stop is in Adrian Michigan.
I would be thrilled if we could perhaps meet any other rc ers along the way, and perhaps visit a field or two. I will be bringing my e flight Taylorcraft.
We also plan to, if our cash is holding out, to make our way to New Jersey where the second person is we wish to visit.
So any advice or suggestions you can give us would be great, and if you are along our path, it would be fantastic to meet up and
share some time.
Thanks!

Dan

I would suggest a stop in Dayton Ohio and visit the Air Force museum.

The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago is interesting. Aurelios pizza in Homewood IL is the best pizza in the world IMHO and it is not what people call "Chicago" style.

Chicago also has that captured german WW2 submarine. I really want to see that some day.

I spent a couple of years touring North America from mexico to Alsaka in an RV. I used the AMA club finder to locate clubs and made contact 2 or 3 weeks ahead. Almost always I would get a friendly welcome and an invite to come fly.

So I was able to be my normal 3D hooligan self from Cabo San Lucas to Fairbanks.

The Muncie Indiana headquarters usually has something going on.  Good place to stay overnight reasonably.  Wake up to planes flying.

That sub is at the Museum I mentioned. Been through it many times. :-) They also have several full scale WW II planes that hang from the ceiling and a killer model train layout.

If you can take the time I'd put a + 10 on a visit to the Dayton Museum . I've been there a number of times and it's been worth the visit every time. There is a club there also but I never flew with them .

You might want to list the dates you will be on the road and your route, NO telling what kind of good things might come out from under the clouds . lol ENJOY !!! RED

Ottumwa is in Iowa, not Ohio (easy mistake)
birthplace of Radar O'reiley (From MASH) and Tom Arnold (Roseanne's Ex )
my Sister used to live there
Safe Travels!!
