Hey Ramstein; that Sierra Tail you mentioned lists on the Sierra Site as 1/4.5 Scale for Vailly, Smith & Airworld, and the same on the Meister Scale Site; I always thought these TF Birds were 1/5 size, but heck, if it fits and looks good and works thats all that matters; is this picture the one you used? Thanks.

2.5 is about the right sized wheel. A little small but 3 inch is too big..

Was it hard to install? Do you have any pictures of your tail wheel setup? I really appreciate your help that's the only thing holding up my warbird I ended up going with the air retracts because I didn't like the Robart electrics they where to slow and that electric board that powers them felt like crap. I just  fished installing my new DLE 85 I can't wait till I maiden my FW.

I will be getting this Plane on Friday, I have a few questions hoping to get some feedback to help me with my build; I plan on going with Robarts Pnuematic Main Gear, haven't made a decision on the Tail Gear; the Plans call for using the Robarts Mechanical Tail Gear articulated by a Servo mounted in the Servo Bay area, for those that went this route, how did this set up work out for you; my concern is that, I will only have One channel to operate both the Tail Gear Servo and the Air Valve Servo, therefore using my Radio, how would you dial in the endpoints on each Servo separatly to get the desired effect, both Servos will need to travel at different lengths, is there room to accomplish this mechanically?

I can keep this simple and get the Sierra Pnuematic Tail Gear, but not sure how difficult it is to install this Gear in this FW190, hope to hear back from Ramstein44 to shed some light and knowledge on his install to help me decide, I'd rather go Pnuematic and keep it simple like I have done on my other Warbirds, but am open to the idea of using the Mechanical Gear as suggested by Top Flite.

Thanks.

In the gallery, there are a few of it. Note; in picture two, it was placed on ply with the screws so I could remove the entire unit easily, this cause it to sit a little higher/longer retracted and extended. If you don't do that, it will sit more scale to the fuse.

At the top of this forum, there are the gallery images. Click on that and all the images from this forum are made available so you don't have to go through every page. In the 3rd pic, the air system deflated since I only had a little in there, its close to being fully retracted in the picture.

Thanks Ram; The Main Gear Wheels, are those Williams Bros Wheels you have mentioned or did you go with something else? Williams Bros#14500 or 14600. Thanks.

No problem. Yes they are Williams brothers wheels, I believe they were the 14500. Thin profile.

I will be leaving the Monokote on my FW190; I need some info on a Swastika with White Border for the Tail; first off what would the size be for this Model/Scale 2" 3"? Can the Swastika be Painted on Monokote or would I be better off with a Decal? and finally a good source for a Swastika Paint Mask, Decal, or both.

If you're going to paint the markings, contact Tfarmer, he makes the best painting mask.. If you want decals, contact www.callie-graphics.com and let her know what model you're building, she has all those measurements figured out already. She made the vinyl decals for this FW190 pictured and many of my others.

Tfarmer has posted in this thread, contact him through PM's. He just built a Meister scale FW190 and I'll be contacting him for the mask for mine.

Good luck.

Looking good. Is the missing instrument in route or.. Did you use the scale elevators and rudder on yours or just the ailerons?

That's pretty clever motor12! I do something similar but I secure both parts together by two square bass tubes that slide within each other just behind the strut.

Default Top Flite Provided Paint Scheme Splotch Decals

I just got my 190, havn't started the build yet, getting some ideas, I will not be taking the Monokote off, the Splotch Decals provided by Top Flite look kinda of dorky, what have others done, from what I recall in some pictures, they were not used at all, others look like they made their own out of Flat Olive Green Monokote; I was thinking of airbrushing my own on to the Monokote, problem is matching the color to the Monokote, unless someone had done this and would be so kind as to share the color name, number, etc; anyways, I have read this thread through and through, excuse me for a bunch of questions, one feature missing with the RCU upgrade is the Gallery Feature to view Pictures posted in this thread, so bear with me for your kind indulgence in reposting pictures. thanks.
