Not that it will make you feel any better, Scott, but the house sparrow is an "invasive" species which has displaced other native American birds. Plus they are a very successful species.

RE: Struggling with single rotor basics V2
I was flying my Nite KESL about a week ago at the AMS Redneck Festival where we had been garden tractor racing all day. It dusk and when I was a quarter mile up in the air, a storm quickly rolled in and blew it away. I didn't find it so I need to make a new one for IRCHA.
I still don't know what helis I am going to bring. Somewhat apprehensive about flying anything big as I am still rusty. I crashed my trusty 450 Pro at the Redneck Festival when I dumb thumbed it into the ground. It is weird. I can fly the crap out of the mCP X and nano but freeze up a bit with anything larger. I did fly the Mini Protos several times after the crash and managed to keep that from any dirt naps. This past weekend I rebuilt the 450 Pro and it is flying just fine again. I did however put the Flip quad down hard after an orientation mixup and broke one of the legs. I've been teaching a guy at work how to fly planes so I have been out doing that more often than flying helis this season. We had been concentrating on scratch built foamies like the F-22, KESL and the F-117A I built but Sunday I broke out the FunJet and got my blood really pumping. 100+ MPH rips across the school field by my house was pretty exciting! A couple neighbors even came over to ask about the plane. That was pretty cool.

Definitely!
How have you been, Phil? I have been out of touch for better part of two weeks... IRCHA and then playing catch up at work, so I my thoughts are that you and yours have escaped any horribly inclement weather?

Both vids were great, Chuck! I really loved the boat! Great move missing the dock!
IRCHA during the day was a lot of work for me.. Nights? Let's just say I saw the moonshine, thanks to Ivan, Jake, and Kate!

That was NOT a planned near miss! LOL
Glad to hear IRCHA was good for you. Or is there still some hangover from it?
I have one more project to complete (a foamie park flier build TechOne P51D) & then I get back to the Flymentor & see if I can get it working again. I've been tossing around both the new FBL & the 300X helis out in front trying to get back into more consistent flying time. Freakin' winter is coming again! Where the h3ll did summer go???

All recovered, Chuck! It was funny, people I didn't know came up to me Friday and asked me how I was feeling.
Summer? What summer? It has been more like Fall or early spring all summer here. Don't get me started about the amount of rain we've been getting.
Good deal on your projects. I'm glad you're keeping yourself busy on your permanent Saturday!
Speaking of busy, I replaced the toilet in my motorhome today. Here's a link to a post on another forum describing the debacle!

It sounds like owning a second home, Scott! Oh wait, it is a second home but on wheels with much more potential for things to break because it's bouncing around the country looking for a parking space! LOL
Apparently, we are in a draught again so send some of that rain over here, please!

The thing is this... As I was dumping at IRCHA, Ivan said to me, "I bet you never thought you would ever know this much about RV's." Man, that's true. Someone else on another forum wrote to me something I keep in mind. Driving a motorhome is like driving a constant earthquake. Don't get me wrong, I love driving the motorhome. It's cool as all get out and the view is tremendous. It's a lof of work to do right, though. A lot of work.
Bro, it hasn't rained here since Wednesday. The only good thing about the lack of rain is the lack of sprinkler use.

P51D disaster!
Air quality here sucks - actually you don't want to suck it in it's so bad!
Too windy for me & helis, so I thought it was time to maiden the new airplane! Nitroplanes customer support is pretty bad, BTW! 5 weeks & 3 reports & still no response. They used to be good. Very disappointing...
Any way, the pic says it all. Doesn't look fixable. The only upside to this sad story is that I wasn't flying, my instructor was. Boy, does he feel bad!
