I am actually very satisfied with my L-29, compared to my other jets. I bought the model and the retracts/struts combo, but after 20-ish flights, I changed the retracts to Behotec C50 (drop fit, same size as the supplied ones). I did not change the struts, but added a 20mm spring to each strut so I could achieve some actual suspention. The additional 20mm spring goes on the outside of the strut. (I can take some pics if needed).

RE: L 29 Delfin Race Jet
I experimented a lot with different springs, as the stock ones were too weak/soft. They were completely depressed even before the wings were mounted, so when ready for takeoff with full tank, there was no dampening on landing at all.. worked ok for perfect landings, but not all of mine are
I ended up with cutting small pieces of a very strong spring, and the result is very satisfactory. I was a bit surprised of how strong the springs had to be to actually work properly.. I do not think it is possible to find a spring strong enough to be fitted inside (as the stock one) the strut. My additional springs works together with the stock ones. (FYI the same springs are used on all three struts.. resulting in a very firm nose strut. Therefore I also changed that spring, but to a softer one).
The retracts I bought with the kit, worked nicely for the first flights. On closer inspection, after noticing that my gear doors were slightly misplaced, I could clearly see that the retracts had started to bend. The retract "body" itself, the trunion and the small pin that goes into the strut, were all bent/out of place. I guess it is the weight of the model (20kg) that is just too heavy for these retracts.
I did not want to experiment more, so I just changed to Behotec C50 retracts. They are expensive, but they work...again and again and again......
The CG on this model is more forward than I am used to, and in the beginning, I felt a bit uncomfortable as it seemed very nose heavy. There is not much one can do about this, as the location of the main wheels is wrong from the factory/manufacturer. Or to be more precise....the position of the retracts is correct, but the the full size has trailing links that places the main wheels further rearwards than on the model. The result is a model that is VERY light on the nosewheel. When the tank empties, it gets worse (the tank is slightly in front) resulting in poor/no directional control. This is something for the pilot to be aware of to say the least.. I have learnt to fill the tank full each time, and land with about 1/3 left. This gives me 7-8 minutes of scale flying. Once I landed with less than 1/3, and the model tipped on it´s tail when taxing back, making it impossible to taxi. I have thought about adding more weight to the nose, but I feel the CG is forward enough as it is
Everything else works nicely, and I enjoy flying my L-29. It really flies like a trainer, but I need full flaps (approx 80 degrees) on all four flap surfaces to slow this model down/keep the speed down.
I have not painted it yet, as I cannot seem to make up my mind on which scheme to go for...

RE: L 29 Delfin Race Jet
Almost, I did angle the retract mounts a bit, and modified the struts a tiny bit, so I have CG 8-10mm further back than in the manual. But the CG in the manual works fine as well
( if I balance the model where I personally would have the CG, I need to do some serious modification the the model. That is something I do not want to do... So for me, it is nice as it is).

RE: L 29 Delfin Race Jet
yesterday finally i got my L-29 maiden flight
windy day!
3 flight without any problem... engine JETCAT160 detuned to 14kg trust (i fly with gas stick in half position and model is very fast)
6 minutes of flight with half kerosene burned... landing slighty bounced because
too soft spring on main gear.... i think to remove 100 / 200 gr of ballast from the nose and replace the spring on gear
soon video about

Hello Chrigui,
happy you made it.... I am on the problem with the springs... we ordered new Legs with harder srings and will test them. In the moment I build 5 from the L29 for customers, some of them will get nice Airbrush too... I will show photos when it is done. I wish you lots of fun and save flights with your L29.

Have you decided on a scheme already? I haven't yet..... And I have just bought an Airworld Mig-21, which is also gray. Now I have two models to decide paint schemes for.....
