RE: Anyone help with Sea Vixen kit
I have just released my 1/8th scale DH-110 Sea Vixen / FAW-1 plans and associated parts. Like my Vampire it is all wood construction and incorporates the true to scale operating fowler flaps. I have produced a scale flap hardware kit for those who may not want to build their own parts and for those who are not interested in the scale flaps, optional simple split flaps can be installed.
Before you say..1/8th scale ?.....the full scale Sea Vixen is a LARGE aircraft. The model wing span is 76.5" and as such has very generous wing area. The prototype weight is 31.2# dry and is powered with a single Jet Central Cheetah (31# thrust) via a custom TamJets bifurcated pipe. The design thrust range is 26#> 36# and can carry up to 144 oz. of fuel.
The construction is identical to that of my Vampire designs, very straight forward and is supplemented with assy. instructions and flight set-up info.
Accessories such as the F/G inlets and Radom and a full set of Scale Retracts, wheels and brakes are available to support this design.
I will post additional pics of the Sea Vixen and accessories when I get to the shop.
For more information please contact me at the email listed below
Thank you for your interest,

Thanks Sean.
My wife and I will be in Portland Maine at the Lobster Festival starting next Wed thu the 5th of Aug. and so for the first time, I will not be attending the FAB rally.
I look forward to having it out at Fariview in the very near future and perhaps I may bring it along to the Giant Rally on the 16th.
Take care.

Hi Jamie,
I will take a few pics later today and post for you this evening. When you see them, they will look EACATLY like the pic in the post by Pete...EXACTLY. I spent a HUGH effort to make these function in the full scale with was obtained from DH-110 Factory drawings. I also prototyped the functionality with a model mock-up before committing it into my final SV design drawings. My plans set have a dedicated drawing just to this installation, not because it is difficult but I wanted full clarity of the installation and did not want to clutter the wing assy. drawing. I offer a Fowler flap Mechanical Hardware kit @ $95.00 for those who wish to install this scale feature. However, for those who wish to fabricate the parts, ALL parts are detailed in the drawings.
What makes this SCALE Fowler Flap set-up so unique is that the outboard and inboard ends of the flaps assy. move at DIFFERNET SPEEDS and DISTANCES. This was done by Gearboxes on the full scale with different gear ratios, I accomplished this with 2 servos per flap assy. not to mention the large horizontal distance this flap moves aft as it extends which equals the full width of the flap itself. For those who are not interested in the this significant scale feature, I have also another view on the Flap drawing to install a "simple split flap" setup.
Pete, thank you for the detailed Pics..they show great detail in particular the 50% extend flap. I know this is only 50% as when fully extended the L.E. of the flap will kiss the T.E. of the wing Now you can see why the opposite ends of the flaps must move at different rates and distances.
The interest in this design is overwhelming as it is EXACT SCALE and is a great subject for those who wish to enter scale competiton with it. I have over 900 hours in the CAD drawings in addition to the development work in the flaps and scale landing gears etc. So I'm pleased to finally be able to offer this design to others.
One final comment on Pete's pics, the airframe shown is an FAW-2 (Fleet Air Wing -2) which has the modified / extended Booms over the wings. My design is an FAW-1 which does not have these boom mods. In the future as time permits, I have plans to add the FAW-2 boom version detials to the drawings.
More info to follow.
Thanks to all for your interest and input.

RE: Anyone help with Sea Vixen kit
Thanks Kerry, would be very interested to see how you have done it. I have been in touch with Belair kits to check on availability of all the parts, looking like it will be some time next month. I found a good video of the FAW1 in action . . . . .

Dizz, please take note of the Scimitar!

Here are the photos of the protoyping breadboard for the flap mechanicals and shows all flap sections working togther. On the wing pic you will only see only the "outboard" flap setion as the Center and Inbord flaps are on the fuselage section but join together when outer wing panels are bolted to the fuselage.
The flaps make use of 2 servos with differnt length Aluminum output arms to achieve the Flap travel needed.

Kerry your Sea Vixen is Awesome.
Great job on the mechanics on the flaps too, very very impressive.
If we want to buy it in the US do we just email you?
Aloha

Sea Vixen Folwer Flap pics
I had the Sea Vixen out over the past weekend with my good friends Mark Frankel and Frank Alvarez (left) and had an opportunity to capture a few good pics of the scale Folwer flaps in the delpoyed position. The reason for the inborad and outboard flap travel differential is obvious in the pics. Mark has shot some very good video and will post when received. Thanks Mark. I want to thank Tim Mayher of Sierra Giant Scale Gear for the fabulous build of the prototype airframe.

Hi Kerry,
I dropped you an email a week or so ago, to your verizon address. I am wanting to buy the parts from you so I can make a start. I already have the plan from Belair. Please can you get back to me?
Regrds,
John
