Thanks, Andrew. The Das Splat Jr flies great. When I was building it, some people told me it was going to be too slow due to its humpback airfoil. Not the case. With a TD, it's my quickest 1/2A. Very forgiving. Turns on a dime, point and shoot. I'd add a rudder if I built another one.

Ah, I miss the world of half-A, and quarter-A for that matter. Life since Estes/Cox has taken me away from models, though I still have piles of stuff and will get back to things someday. Thanks for sharing the pics guys.

Anyone here not happy with RCU's new site? I'm not too keen on it that's for sure!

Default Rattle 2

Howdy gents. Some of you may have seen the build thread on Rattle . I have built a new one . I used the old wing . The tail is now a built up instead of solid. and its a little wider . I snubbed the noes a bit.Keith

Here's a couple shots taken at this morning's outing. A TD .010 on a Pageboy and an intake-throttled Surestart .049 on a Minnie Mambo. Both flew several times today.

Hi Tee Bee, That Pageboy has held up well. IIRC you've had it a few years now

The secret to its longevity is that I only take it to the field once or twice a year. It skipped SMALL this year so today was one of those "special" ones. It hangs in my bedroom the other 364 days a year.

Nice planes Tee Bee! BTW, What rx are you using? I have a DX8 as well and am using a Spektrum 6100E in my La Stick,
Also, I sent you a PM in regards to the Pong2

I made this video not long after getting mine. It was before I figured out what I had so obviously the "unknown plane" is a OK Pilot Baby.

I just finished up building my Royal Coachman. I tried to duplicate Don Dewy's model as close as possible. Dons in black & white pic, mine in red & white. This has a silkspan & dope finish. I installed a period correct OS.15 steel fin & NOS Du-Bro wheels with the chrome hubs. Just need to test fly it.....Gene

Here's my meagre 1/2A pic offering, borrowed from the thread below.

While it hardly represents traditional craftsmanship, nostalgia or otherwise, you have to figure that anytime in the life span of the .010, if something that could make a quick, cheap conversion for .010 power appeared on the shelf, a bunch of folks would be all over it. So there you go. In the '70's I recall converting an Eldon Styroglider to FF .010 power, and later offerings in the '80's with Pee Wee .020's also FF.

This thing came out at 4.2oz, with three channels, Lemon Rx, and a 250/300mAh 2s LiPO Rx battery (forget which I put in there) and Novak regulator. Flies great. I have replaced the rubber band with a sliding latch BTW.

I flew it once on New Years Day, including test gliding & a few false starts on a slightly gummy .010. Then, two weeks later, I had a couple of full flights and also several aborted starts and short flights due to my use of silicone fuel line which kept popping off either during start, tuning, or after launch. So I probably had 1/2 hour "on" time at that session. Then last weekend I thought I better charge up the Rx battery again (good thinking huh?). It took 62mAh to bring it right up. So I guess I have enough Rx battery capacity!
