What stage are you with this... can we see pics and have a progress report, possibly even a vid of the performance/sound?

Nothing off the shelf has the wheelbase required for 150mph, but taking an off the the shelf chassis to its absolute top speed (probably about 110) will be good start and valuable experience which you should definitely be equipped with before starting a scratch build with a longer chassis.

Are you sure foxy? You're saying top speed is wheelbase dependent?

Lol, no. But you wont be able to keep a short wheelbase car on the ground. Think about the changes in surface however small. They change the angle of the chassis in relation to the ground, causing instability. The longer the wheelbase, the less this angle can change, dramatically increasing stability.

mmm-hmmm.... well i had to put the project on the back burner for a while, and im reconsidering the setup on the car, so there will probably be changes again down the road. I'll post what i have today.

I have to disagree with that statement Foxy. Within our small crew of RC speed junkies, there are no modified chassis or cars that have been lengthened. I myself went 113 with a nitro 1/10 scale on a stock chassis, MiamiJato has an electric Losi 8ight on a stock chassis that has gone 128 and there's an OFNA GTP out there somewhere that has gone 141 with the stock length chassis. I understand that 150 is quite a bit to chew off, specially if you haven't taken the proper speed steps (100-110-120-130-140-150) but I would start with an "off the shelf" set up and push that to the limits. Then see what's lacking and make changes accordingly.

I stand corrected then, but I'm surprised by the GTP on stcok chassis. 141? Notoriously short chassis too. Must have had an amazing body and a great surface.

Don't get me wrong Foxy, this isn't something that batteries and a motor was just thrown into and it went 140. I'm sure these are all projects that started out in the 80s and climbed and climbed. By no means are there many people building 120+ cars on the first shot.
By the way, Nic Case went 184 last week. He's just making it harder and harder to catch. Lol.

the GTP I remember seeing one that they had to put a body mount in the windshield to brace it if I remember right as it deformed and caused it to flip up around 100mphish (that was with stock body, and I'm pretty sure was a member here)

I wanted to get one to build a speed machine after seeing it till I thought about where the hell would I be able to run as I live in an over populated city it then that killed my enthusiasm pretty quick.
