The ESC is a tricky question.....1/8 scale could be 20 kg or 200 kg. Will you drive it on the flat only? Off road? What are the motors?ESCs have different amp ratings and you'll need to know the parameters of the tank to figure out what you need.Do you want to charge the batteries when you brake? And so on......thats why I linked you to the configurator in the early posts. If you dont know what the parameters of teh tank are ... then just pick one at random. If its doesnt work, pick another one.Or figure out the parameters and then buy one straight away that should work. Its not a simple question....p

Well it would be around 27 KG max , I m thinking of a RC Armory King Tiger .

I think they use 24 V motors ,

I can build a Nano Battery that will be good for it .

Pls advise

WEll I is no expert.......but conveniently I have been playing around with these calculations so I'll estimate......If the tank is 30 kg or so and assuming the drive wheel is 7 cm radius, 2 motors, a speed of 1 m/s and a max incline of 30 degrees and acceleration of 0.1 m/s^2 then the maximum current drawn should be in or around 5 amps ?I dont know what the stall current would be.Therefore I assume an ESC that could handle 25 amps momentarily and somewhere around 8 or 10 all th etime would be the way to go?Someting like this maybe? http://www.robotmarketplace.com/prod...ER2X12-RC.html for 62 bucks.12 A continuous per channel and 25 per channel for a second or two.Saying that...all the above is an estimate and getting something bigger is probably not going to harm anything except your wallet.Or else just buy a filthy cheap one and stick fuses on the motors. The mark-1-tank controllers cost 90 pounds each so they can hardly be up in the 50 amp range which would be costing hundfreds......pwhy the hell does carriage return not work anymore?

Mark 1 controllers are not £90 they are a similar price to a TBS5, the sound is very poor and has that horrendous hull recoil when you fire the main gun they also have a tendency to burn out the speed controller.
TBS5 and Mini work exactly the same with the exception that with the mini you can download any sound you wish it’s also a lot smaller and cheaper you will find all the information you need here http://www.benedini.de/ the site includes prices and diagram’s, one thing I will say is regardless of how good your sound system if you use cheap speakers you will get poor sound don’t expect the sound card to do everything for you.
In my 1/6 Tiger I use a pair of 30 amp Electronize speed controllers http://www.electronize.co.uk/ these would be fine for a 1/8th tank

To be fair to me....Iwasn't trying to give innacurate information....the 90 stg tag is there for all to see (and Ihave no real reason to doubt it as a serious vendor will hold to the price a product is advertised at) , including the original poster had he wandered over there. I didnt promote them as being any kind of quality product.....the original question was looking for some guidelines as to price and availaibility.

The R/C Armory Tiger II uses a 12v System if you use their drive motors. You could use a Sabertooth 2x25a to control the drive motors for this tank. You could also use the Sabertooth 2x12a to control the gun elevation and turret traverse for this kit as well. This would take care of the movement of the tank. you would still need a sound card to have sound. take a look at the links below to see the specs for these two Sabertooth ESC's

Thank you Maus45 that looks decent yes .

I will run metal tracks if Armory is still open .

Which one of them will work better ?

here is Armory s better unit

Dual Speed Controller ..................$290.00
High quality dual speed controller allows single stick control of tank. Uses the two channels from one control stick to move the tank forward, reverse, or turn at a fully proportional rate. Controller works with up to 30 Volts at 20 amps for each drive motor. Comes with Futaba "J" connectors to fit most FM or PCM radios. Controller has jumper selectable acceleration, deceleration, and steering rates. Vantect model RDFR22.

Dual Speed Control with Auxiliary Channel ........................$85.00
High quality full proportional forward or reverse speed controller for turret rotation or gun elevation. The 3 channel 6A peak, 18V dual speed control, with 12A on/off auxiliary control comes with Futaba "J" connectors to fit most FM or PCM radios.

What do you think ?

Iposter, well that’s a surprise, I bought one a few years back and it was £250, when I realised how poor the sound was I sold it and bought a Benidini and never looked back,

This is the TBS5 fitted to my Tiger http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frUGM6njKVk
