Default Gluing in the governor magnets , HELP

Hello,

I’m looking for a reliable way to glue in the governor magnets on the aluminum clutch bell of my Align T-REX 700 3G LE , I considered to use epoxy or JB weld , the user’s manual suggests using CA glue or the supplied G48 glue ,

What’s the best way to glue in the magnets (I consider that the bell may get a little hot during operation ) , and what do I expect for this particular model if the magnets are lost during flight ,

“Isn’t it a good idea if the manufacturing company press in the magnets into the bell”

I appreciate any suggestion ,

Thanks a lot,

Best regards,

Epoxy or JB Weld will work fine. I use epoxy.

Thanks ,

Is there a specific type of epoxy recommended , and does it resist heat, also , is it recommended to make a hole with a small bit through the magnet “impression” in the clutch bell and roughened the area before gluing

Thanks a lot,

Just epoxy.

Yes, drilling a small hole keeps the magnet from sitting on an air bubble.

Don't get fussed about the heat.

If you properly program the radio with some simple backup throttle curves, you may not even notice that you lost a magnet. I leave them simple enough to complete a flight routine or even a maneuver, but I notice that they are gone because the throttle does not react the same.

sorry, I assume a rough throttle curve is always set, but with enough difference in RPM (lower) that I can tell immediately if there's a governor issue.

FWIW I've never thrown a magnet and I have more than a flight or two here and there

I lost a magnet before using the small hole thru the fan technique. Haven't lost a magnet since [knock on wood] But have broken a sensor, or a wire since. Too little clearance between the plastic fan and the sensor (now most of my fans are metal). or not protecting the cable good enough.

Hello,

Thank you all for your posts ,

I decided to use “Epoxy steel” for gluing in the magnets ,after roughening the impression in the clutch bell and drill a small hole in the middle (but I didn’t find a bit smaller than 1 - 1.5 mm , I think it’s a little big) and roughening the back and sides of the magnets, had anyone used this type of epoxy , ( its used for metals ) , do I consider to apply a thin coat of this glue on to of the magnets , or it may affect “ sensor readings “ ,

Am I advised to glue in the magnets with the “Epoxy steel” then apply a thin coat of “the clear epoxy” on top of the magnets ?

Thanks a lot,

I see no reason to put anything on top of the magnet. That would just reduce the clearance between the magnet and the sensor.

If you are using that strong of glue, make ABSOLUTELY sure you are installing the magnet with the right orientation.

Hi Sam, don't over think it!

The second use of that hole is to run a small nail through to remove the magnet if you ever have to.

Regular modeling epoxy works just dandy.

Hello,

Thanks a lot , I really appreciate your advice , about the orientation , I intend to glue the magnets , and complete the assembly , then move to electronics , so I will not power up the sensor and check for polarity and will depend on marking the magnets with a marker (let them stick together and mark the outer sides of the two magnets -which supposed to be of opposite polarity - ) and then glue the magnets with that mark facing upwards , and just hope everything will work as expected ,

And sure with this “Epoxy steel” it’s very difficult to take out the magnets if they are not oriented properly ,

Any way , hope everything will go right : )

Thanks a lot,
