saw a speed racer one and am thinking of getting one.

how fast are they?
can they break 20mph?

i know they are going to be nothing compared to my nitros but are they worth it or should i wait for the xxxt mini ?

Its certainly possible to get them moving that fast, but the main thing about mini z's is maintaining control. It is very easy to spin out, with a better motor.

Speed Racer #55555555555555555

I've learned that my F1 handles completely different from my Overland. For one thing, I've never flipped the F1 yet I have the Overland but yet I'll spin the F1 around in a heart beat.

Let me know how the Speed Racer handles.

hey,

i have 2x3 fet upgrade w/ S02 motor, and it can break into the 30's (mph--ran it along side my car =)). they are well worth the money, you can get them off of http://www.rcmart.com for under $100. sure they are hard to handle at first, but w/ a ball differential, good tires and suspension, they hardly spin out... youre only as fast as your driving skills... practice makes perfect.

I'd say more like 12 to 15mph. Put in an X-Speed and change your pinion, then you might get 20mph.

You still gotta be able to steer it straight.

I dont have a Z or an F-1 but I have driven a few of them. I cant say anything bad or good about them. If you have the money I say go ahead and get the Z now then when the Mini-T comes out get one of those. If you havent seen my thread about the Mini-T in the mini section here you should check it out.

I ordered a new Mini-Z Ferrari Enzo MR-02 tonight. It looks sweet from the photos, but I also hope the new Corvette C5-R (yellow and white) body that I already purchased fits without any modification. Anyone know how much chassis difference there is between the 01 and the 02? My Overland is also back on the road again (or off road again)!

Well gents, don't mean to burst any bubbles here, but I've run the formula-1, and X-5 overlander and a pair of sedans (Modena and Supra)....Stock F-1 and the sedan with a 9 tooth pinion have been consistently clocked at 10 mph, which is pretty fast for a little car. With an X-Speed, ball diff, and bearings, the F-1 and the sedans/touring cars have been clocked around 13 mph on a 9 tooth pinion. The X-5 of mine hasn't been clocked, but goes pretty close to the same speed as it has an 11 tooth pinion and a Speedy motor. The F-1 handles best, then the X-5 and then the sedans. I'm referring to directional stability and not turning here.....I had a chance to drive a friend's new Enzo (that's the MR-02) and it appeared to handle very well overall. Since I have my share of four cars, have to sell one or two before Mrs. allows for new toys..Enzo is calling ;-)....A couple of guys with turbos or fets in their cars were doing 17~18 MPH, and let me tell ya, that's really fast! One guy broke 20 mph once and it was too much.

At 13 mph top speed, one has a fast car on a track the size of a two or three car garage, especially if you have good grip. At 13 mph, these 1/28 scale cars are equivalent to a 1/10 scale car at about 37 mph....or it's like the real sedan/touring car doing 364 mph, or the full size F-1 doing 312 mph. Imagine them going around tracks that fast.

I've flown planes for a long time and never thought cars would be that exciting. Well, guess what? I love my little R/C cars now. Fun Fun Fun....

Have fun,
Amir

goto

http://www.mini-zracer.com/gallery/album57

for comparison pictures of the MZ-01 and 02

the stock motor can probably go about 10-15 mph depending how well you tuned the car
w/ the xspeed its about 15-20
w/ other and mod'ed motors they can reach into the 30s easily

depending on how you check you speed, its mainly only to compare 2 different cars, the micro rc speed checkers are way off, but i found running your z along side a car is probably your best bet, though may be risky...

AmirN, what you said is believeable with the Xspeed motor, but how did you clock the car? radar gun, speed checker, etc? i have a mod'ed S02 motor w/ neo mags and bearings which is equivilent to the S03 motor which both of these motors can easily leave the xspeed and their mod'ed counterparts in the dust. my car is pretty much fully upgraded, i do not have the desired wire metal and guage for the motor yet either, and i only have 2x3 fets, which is only the minimum...

Hello, I'm brand new to this form but not to Mini-Z's, so I'd like to put in what I know.

1. 20 mph is very easy to obtain in a mini-z but with these cars being so small they get a little harder to control the faster you go.

2. According to R/C Car Action issue June 2002 the top speed of the Z is 11.8 mph. And the F1 Z is 13.7 mph do to it being a little lighter and the layout of the chassis.

3. I have heard of a Z doing about 45 mph on another forum I'm a member of www.minizworld.com

4. I have to mini-z's and they are both heavily modified (MR-01). One has a 2x3 Fet upgrade using a modified X-Speed motor and the other has a 2x4 Fet upgrade using a PN S01 motor. The second one is VERY FAST.

5. These cars are awsome! There are so many upgrades available for them and the price is much cheaper then other R/C cars.

6. I suggest you get the Mini-Z and upgrade away.

My Most Modified Z

Thanks for the links. I've already been sifting through some of those posts and learned that the C5-R body I purchased needs to be modified or I need to wait and get some adapter parts. And the Enzo MR-02 I ordered, the wrong model was shipped so I am still waiting for the car (along with a new case and an internal antenna). It was the first time I was ever disappointed to see an old Ferrari.

I'm new to the forum. I noticed your from Vegas. Did you go to the Mini cup there? I qualified to go but couldnt make it Dean
My 2 cents... Mini-z's bring out the fun and competition. They rock!

Dean,
Is your picture on the site?
http://www.kyosho.com/events/mini-z-...3-results.html

I was the only one from Nevada who made an attempt at the Mini-Z track. I made another attempt last night with my Enzo--I came in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and last all at the same time. LOL. I am still waiting on some tires for the F1--at the trials, one of the racers let me borrow a set of tires and it sure made a big difference. Too bad it was too late in the game but I didn't expect too much from myself since it was actually my first race--lots of toys to play with but no actual racing. Now that Las Vegas has an actual track and a LHS that is beginning to support Mini-Z's, Mini-Z's may catch on but I don't expect too much until the temps are back in the 100F's. One of the other LHS is selling the Overland now too.

There are 3 races this weekend alone--1/4 scale, outside dirt, and outside parking lot.

I've been thinking about doing that to my Overland but not if they bring in an Overland track and especially not if I pick up the PTI Micro-Monster.

So do you have two or three Overlands or is that your brother's Overland?

ORIGINAL: rccarman

i just got a brand new overland, this are factory pics they are not of mine but this is the one i got.
