On Board Glow driver
Can someone please recommend an on board glow driver, to aide in maintaining a nice idle, for use one a four stroke. I would like it to come on at low throttle, off as the throttle is advanced. Thanks for the help!...AL

If you are looking for one already made, RAM makes a good one. Tower Hobbies has it.

I use one from C-Tronics in NJ; No adjusting, automatically sets itself for servo direction, auto shut-off at end of flight, comes with single cell 1800 mah, mfg will customize to fit your engine and radio, has red led pilot light. Works great, I own two. $39.95 shipping incl. 15% off for club orders of five or more. See ads in RC Report or MA or call 201-818-4289 or www.c-tronicsinc.com...

RE: On Board Glow driver
Had the MPI glow driver in a a Cessna 182 with a RCV .58CD engine.
Worked great off of ch 5 (gear) or auto at about 15% throttle and below.
Used a 1200mAh NiCd to drive it. Till the untimely demise of the Cessna
due to some "wind from hell outa nowhere", (pilot error), It worked flawlessly.
Easy to set and light weight.
On planes that have retracts and or others, I have just RTV'd a micro switch
to the top of the throttle servo so the lever "makes" about 15% throttle and below.
Easy no external glow driver, smooth idle and less stress about flameouts.

Make a top quality glow driver - low current drain and works on the temperature of you glow - simple installation - fully automatic - you don't need to remember to switch it on and off. It is marketed under a different name in the USA but, SHM will be able to tell you where to source on !
Edited to correct typos and to add that www.nelsonhobby.com in the USA have them!
