Default 3D Ultimate Bipe w/Himax 2015-4100

Here is a shot of my modified UB:

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

I am using the following:
GWS 'D' gearbox
Himaxx 2015-4100 motor
E-Tech 3-cell, 1200ma Lipo
Phoenix 25amp controller
GWS 12x6 or APC 12x6SF

I am only getting 5 or 6 minute run time. The battery, motor and controller are getting extremely hot. This did not happen with my Razor MH v.2. What's up with the Himaxx or am I doing something wrong?????
We will try different props tomorrow.
Thx,
Phil

with the d gearing you should be running a 10x8 or 10x6 prop. also for a good refrence look on the back of the gws package that the stock motor and gear box came in. it has a good prop chart that gives you info on props for thrust and for speed.

You are working the 4100 a little hard, You have a good combo with a smaller prop. Try the 5400 with the same gearing and a GWS 13X6.5 I use it on a 19oz bipe and a 2100 TP, I think it's all the power you can want for the price....BENDER

Good point, However, I have 2 - 2015-4100. Kind of stuck with them. I was told to use a Kokam 1500ma pack since the E-Tec 1200 could not supply the amps????????????????
Just ordered one. We will see what happens.

I am runnning the exact same setup in a foamy similar to the 3DX. I am getting 22+ minutes of flight time out of it and the motor and battery are getting only slightly warm. The airplane weighs 12oz. ready to fly. According to Tim's motor guide on foamyfactory.com this setup draws 11.2 amps, which shouldn't overtax the battery unless you are at full power 100% of the time.

Same here, I'm running the exact same setup and love it on a 12 oz plane, I'm thinking of trying a little less prop to get a little better response, but I have no complaints on flight time.
I'm Guessing either something is binding, your not getting a full charge or you have a bad component.
Hope you get it wor[sm=tongue.gif]ked out

Wish I could say that. My 3Dx is out of commission till my new gearbox arrives. It weighs 12.2oz and will be a good test. What prop are you running.
I just installed a 12x6 APS SF with a prop adapter on the 3Dx
The UB has a GWS 11x8 and gets about 9 min and is still very warm. Also, the UB ways around 15 oz........bit over weight. So much for a Bals Fuse.
Thx,
PHil

Please let me know what you discover with this problem as I have the 2015-4100 setup
on 2 3DX's and we are running fine. I am making a Ultimate Bipe too (if I destroy the 3DX).
We have the 12x6 GWS slowflyer prop, GWS D gearing, and Phoenix 25 am SC.

With the Himaxx 2015-4100 and 3 cell Li-Po do you need the Phoenix 25 or is the Phoenix 10 enough?

What is the biggest Li-Po pack you could run on a Himaxx 2015-4100 with a Phoenix 10?

I tried the Phoenix 10 and the motor ran for about 3 sec before shutting down. I returned the 10 for a 25.

I have been running the 4100 on the "D" box and 1200 3s1p for awhile both indoors and outside with no problems, but I went back to an 11X4-7 prop. With the 12X6 it would work the batts a little to hard.
