I have the airport qualification Jepp for that airport; on runway 25 it states "Any Go-Around Beyond the ILS or GCA MAP Will Not Provide Obstruction Clearance." No kidding!

looks kinda like Aspen, you fly into a valley, not that bad. All I gotta say is you better have your Ducks in a row!

Flown into a few of those. Teluride is interesing too. Went in there in our jet one time. Had to abort and go to Montrose because of a flap malfunction. Didn't have enough runway to stop on after that. What a pain.

I have been there and done that approach many times, from Dash 8's to 737's. We even had op's spec's for the 737-200 to go in to that runway with 15kt tailwinds. We have a lot more of them around up here. Another that comes to mind is Indian Mtn. (Utopia Creek) where the touchdown zone is a little better than 400 ft LOWER than the rollout end!

True! And you do not remove all power or you will never make it to the top! That is where the ramp is. And on departure, the altimeter unwinds as you literally "go down the runway"! The largest plane I believe that use to go in there was AirForce C-130's, as once upon a time the AF had a radar installation on a nearby peak. I have seen sparks come from the wheel wells on 130's when a new pilot was getting checked out there.

talk about being "committed to landing" on that approach!
