Sunil,

The new wing is finished! I have made the airfoil a bit thicker and I have put the main spars inline so I can put shear web between them as in "I" beam construction. I also added tabs on the ribs. I also created a template for the cut out in the fuse for the wing.

Are you fabricating the cowl and canopy or are you using another manufacturer?

Can I get your e-mail address to send the new drawings?

BTW, if anyone wants them I can send.

I use the free "Volo View Express", but it's not available anymore for some reason...
This is the other option from "Autodesk" but at $99.00, you may want to find something else...

Good Question neo. I gave the free plans of the edge to over a 100 members on this forum in the end i get nothing... members dint even thank me for them once they got them and i havent seen one plane built So i guess people dont value FREE .... if its free it aint worth it.

So after i designed the Extra 46 size I decided NOT FREE. So u see the number of responses ... hardly any !

If you read some of the posts rikhye, you will see people have thanked you... I havnt read anywhere on this thread where you state the plans are only free if you "thank me" or build one!!! You must ask yourself, if you have given out over 100 plans, and not yet heard of one being built, what is wrong with it? One RCU member was in fact building an Edge, and his questions were listed on the thread; Dont know if he got the model finished, but would be good to hear the outcome...

rikhye's own website doesnt even show one of his Edge 540's in flight?????????

rikhye states the following as the reason for not supplying the FREE Extra plans...
"I have designed both the planes and do have plans for them both. The extra kit however has too many interlocking parts to be doableby hand (try cutting 2.5mm slots in the formers)"post no 320.
This is a very invalid excuse as most modellers have built from plans with these types of building techniques(Try building a Zirolli DC-3 or Palmer C-130; I bet your Extra does not have as many small Slots in Formers as those, and they are very "doableby hand" ) .
I have purchased the Extra plans that rikhye is selling, and I have to say that there is nothing difficult about the build on this plan!!!!

Stating that you are not going to supply the plans for free because no one "thanked me", and that you havnt yet seen one built is a childish excuse, and to be straight, a "cop-out". You should do the right thing and honor your original post of supplying the FREE plans.

I am the person who is currently building the Edge 540. I haven't gotten past cutting the formers as of yet.

I got myself into a situation with a group of club members in that we were promised by the designer of a particular plane that, for a fee, he would teach us some of the skills required to build his plane. Well, we started in October last year and I had to finish it up myself, just finished last week. The other guys that were in the group were also ticked off and had to finish themselves too. This is why I haven't finished.

I haven't given up on the edge, I have just postponed it till the fall. I will certainly work on it on bad weather days. The formers are all finished and I have all the wood purchased. I will be very happy to post pictures during the building process, but it won't be till the fall.

Sunil and I have sent numerous e-mails to one another and I have told him about the changes I have made to the plans so that it could be more easily built. I also asked for his permission to distribute, here of course, his Edge plans that I modified and he told me to go ahead.

I have also posted messages here telling members I could send the Edge plans out if they let me know and I think I got a reply from 5 or so people.

Anyway, I can understand how much work went into these plans because I redesigned the wing so that it was easier to build and be much stronger/lighter. I can only imagine how disappointing it is to put all the work into plans like these and not see any results.

Well, just my 2 cents.

Thats a lot of flak from a person who paid for the plans of the extra. BTW cmsrp you got the extra plans for the 46 size not the 60-90 that woudnt be possible to do by hand anyway I wish you all the best. As for as the standing to give oput the plans for free its my decision and you cant cry about it since you got them.

I have watched this thread since it started (and posted on it), and when the "Free" Extra plans proved to be incorrect, I questioned rikhye's motive on this thread as "free advertising". There is nothing wrong with Free Advertising, but by saying something is free with no intention to supply is inexcusable...
I sent rikhye 3 e-mails through his website since I first saw his site, asking if the 60/90 Extra plans were available seperately; I NEVER got a reply!! So when I saw the 46 size plans on Ebay, I bought them. Free or not, I have no problem spending money on something I want.
And, I had to Pay for them, this is the only way anyone is going to get them...

Then why not supply the 46 size plans for FREE, and sell the 60/90 size plans????????
I find it difficult to beleive the "60-90 that woudnt be possible to do by hand", and if the builder decides it is too difficult, the formers can be "Placed For Laser Or CNC Cutting" as they are on the 46 plans.
I agree there is alot of hard work gone into these plans, but remember rikhye , It was you who stated on a public domain "Extra 300 Edge 540 plans right here","I dont mind sharing the plans with people","please add your email address in your reply !".
"You should do the right thing and honor your original post of supplying the FREE plans" to all the people who have complied with your post!!!!!!!!!
