RE: Best scale photo!
These sky raider photos are a brilliant example of what I ws talking about a couple post ago.
There is no mistaking which is th full size. Nothing to do with the amount of detail... it's all about how much detail isn't recorded... just felt.
Look at the model pic' pin sharp over the entire aeroplane... the full size not. Thats because of the shear scale and nothing to do with the skills of the photograph.
You guys that have an SLR camera, try changing lense and getting a little "dirty" with the picture quality.

RE: Best scale photo!
paladin,
have you read the criteria for posting pics in this forum? The Me 109 stands for everything this thread is against. That is a screaming billboard for what not to do.
Apparently it was an "event" and not a scale contest. It wouldn't place in the top three if it was the only one competing.
Bad, Bad, Bad.

RE: Best scale photo!
Of course that was a real post. It's not a troll. This thread has a criteria, either a photo meets it or it doesn't.
How hard is that.
When someone posts a pic that does not conform to the previously set criteria, they shall be lambasted.
If you don't like it, go start a forum about Mediocre Scale Photos.

RE: Best scale photo!
Maybe if we want a good photo to be posted we should ask for permission first? Who cares if it is scale or not, the pics a great. Perhaps he should tape a ruler on the side of the plane for more "scale" realism.
It is only a forum.
Arguing with someone on the internet is like running in the Special Olympics ,,even if you win you're still a retard!

I concur 100%. There is no way a peruser should see anything in this thread that does not meet criteria. I would like to see Mustang51 have the authority to delete any images he feels are not worthy (as long as he points out the reasons he deemed it as such). Those who don't agree with the thread's premise don't belong in here in the first place.
This thread is under the control of the SPQCB (Scale Photo Quality Control Board). If you don't like that...don't go away mad...just go away.
You "DEFENDERS OF MEDIOCRITY" need to quitcher whinin'. You obviously don't have the skills to "be the ball" when planning and executing the type of shot this thread requires...and you will never convince anyone that mediocre photos have equal rights here.
As has been said many times. Start a new thread for your photos. I'll even help you with a name for it..."Post your mediocre RC photos here"
Bet'cha won't get over 50 views and 1-page. Why, because this thread forces you to "measure up". That's it's allure. If innapropriate photos went unchallenged, this thread wouldn't have gotten past a couple pages either.
I'd be willing to bet that a lot of the intrigue of this thread is due to the controversy created by the posting of lame photos. It's kinda like the Discovery Channel's 'American Chopper' TV Show. If you take out the drama between Sr. & Jr. Teutel, there'd only be like 20 hardcore biker dudes following along on Monday night. Only about 10% of the 4 million plus viewers give a flying patoot about bikes. The rest tune in because of the dynamics between the OCC crew (Orange County Choppers).
Chris Chianelli's 'Radio Control Hobbies' show on the DIY Network should take note. Get a controversial sidekick for Chris. They'll have more non-RC viewers than the 12 who actually care about how to put together a park flyer foamie.
That's my opinion. If you don't like it. Blow me away with a scale photo, and I'll shut up.
Do not be player hating.

RE: Best scale photo!
My 1/6 scale Liberty Sport from an old Sig kit. This is a photo taken in June when it was just completed enough to fly at SEFF. I've continued to add more finishing details and will post another up-to-date photo later.

RE: Best scale photo!
heres some scale photos of my recently completed Eindecker. was a balsa usa kit but completly reworked. this thing dont fly so its cheating a bit. i started this a couple years ago coming out of 1/48 scale plastic modeling and had a wild hair up my ___ to make a big one. where did i go but the field of RC planes and naively bought a kit from balsa usa thinking it would be to scale. not at all! so, discouraged i undertook the task of building the thing from scratch except the slot in the fuse for the wing and the wing its self as i had no idea how to design a tru undercambered wing. so i kept the wing minus the factory dihedral and made new wing tips. the wing turned out to be totaly to scale from top view by the way. the rest of the plane was a challenge for me. Undercarrage was different gauge brass tubing 'fishmouthed' like a bicycle frame using oxy/asseteling. Ussed box fuse with 3/4 round wood along all edges to come flush wigh what a tube-built fuse would come to so fabric would touch only the 'tubing'. rear skid is brass tubing as well. Cowel and cheack cowels are fiverglassed over balsa frames. mixture of aluminum paste and polish so i could 'burnish' in the squigles-pain in the ass! took a year just to get the tests to come out right. Engine is cardboard tubing and paper and little bit of brass tubing. prob was a commericial one carved down a bit. Now i just have to hang the thing somewhere...
