I guess I will not be able to upload the manual after all. I have it in PDF format if someone would like to see it. If someone could give me some advise on the upload I will do it. It appears that RCU only supports jpeg, txt, gif and not pdf. Send email to [email protected] and I will be glad to pass it along.

Blue Ice,
Did you come up with a muffler for your DA50 that did not require cutting the side of the cowl?
Thanks

Tony,
Have not ordered engine or muffler yet. Been working to many hours. I plan on working on plane over the holidays. I did see Sig's Sun Dancer at a expo in Chicago. It had the F.P.E. on it and they did not have to butcher the cowl.

Blue Ice,
Thanks for the response. I have A DA50 I had planned on using for this plane. I don't like having to butcher the cowl so I may have to use the FPE 3,2 instead.
Regards
Tony

Has anyone used the Hitec servos with Karbonite gears? I am having touble finding Metal Gear servos close to home. I found servos with Karbonite, but am unsure about using them. I might have to order metal gear if karbonite will not work. I will have to wait a feww days to get them.

leblanc,

The FPE 2.4 won't have enough power for 3D. I'd stick with a 3.2 (50cc).

Is it possible to start a G-62 without a electric starter? I've heard that you need a little bit of speed to start an engine with a magneto instead of a electric thing. Will I be able to start it with my hand or it's just impossible is my question?

leblanc,

Yes, you can start a G62 by hand, you just have to now where to set the prop relative to the flywheel and wack it a good one. The manual shows the position. With that said, it is much safer to do it with a starter. I bought a Sears 19.2 volt cordless drill and a large cone driver from Tower Hobby, works fine. You will need to put a bolt through the hole on the cone driver to chuck it up in the drill. The drill can drill 3" deck screws well into a board.

I just got off the phone with Bill at Taurus Engines. I ordered a TS52 from him for my Sun Dancer. Now I have to wait till the middle of the month for him to ship it because he is going out of town to a big event in Canada.

I am getting ready to check the incidence on the top wing. Any suggestion? The manual says to zero it out. I have been advised that it is best to set the top wing at -1. Suggestions would be welcome.

I ve recently heard about ZDZ engines. Will the 40cc RE have enough for 3d? It has .05 more horsepower than the g-62. Static thrust is rated at 25.79lbs and it weighs 3.15 lbs with the ignition.

Thanks

LeBlanc

Sorry if i am getting a little enoying

At 9000 rpm with a 18*8 prop it will have 5Hp, but not with a prop suited for this model.

>Static thrust is rated at 25.79lbs and it weighs 3.15 lbs with the ignition.
Mine did only 7200 rpm on a 19*10 with a Krumscheid pipe.
Performance figures for the ZDZ40 from the manufacturer are a bit exaggerated I think.
If you want 3D with a model of this weight you need a engine with more cc's

LeBlanc,

I agree with Hans. You are going to need a good, strong, lightweight engine in the 50 cc (3.2 ci) range for the best performance. You're just going to have to dig into your wallet and get a DA-50, FPE 3.2, Brison 3.2, BME 3.2 or something in that class and price range.

LeBlanc,

Still flying great. Best plane I've ever owned!! Weather's been pretty nasty here for the last three weeks with low clouds and fog. I haven't flown the Sun Dancer during the bad weather spell because the clouds and fog take the fun out of using smoke!! So, I've been flying electric foamies. You can keep them low and close. Lots of cheap 3D fun. and they don't take a ton of equipment to get them in the air.

Tom, I just got my Taurus engine in the mail today. I see what you mean about the pitts muffler interfering with the firewall. I will have to get together will Bill at Taurus and a very experienced builder friend of mine to overcome the problem. What I wanted to ask you was did you put any right thrust in when mounting your engine? Manual does not state any. I am going to have my standoffs made and should take this into account now. Thanks for your reply ahead of time.

The Sun Dancer has thrust built into to it. I think there is about 2 degrees already there.

Anybody know if the manual has been posted anywhere yet? There were some rumblings about it earlier in this thread, but haven't heard if it actually was posted.
