Default F-86 Construction.....

Well time is quickly passing by, and the deadline for the World Jet Masters is approaching (aug 2005). So I thought I had better get rolling on the plane I plan to compete with. I have created a little website where I will be posting photos as I progress on the build. So I invite you all to have a look. Drop a note here or e-mail if you have any questions about my project. I hope to have better quality and faster loading photos soon. There should be progress every day for awhile.
P.S. I am teaching myself web design.....so be nice about the quality.

Time to get back to work. Next step: sheeting the bottom of the wing.

Check it out!

Well it looks like big brother at my university does not like his server being used for model airplane pages.......(I thought it was educational) I guess I will have to find a new server to post the page. Ill look more into why it was removed later.
Thanks to those who have visited and e-mailed.

Hi Dustin:

I got a look last night before they shut you down.......looks like it's gonna be a sturdy wing with all those ribs and lots of plywood.....gear mounts appear solid.....should be adequate for grass fields....always my concern....

If you have trouble finding a new server, we might be able to host you on our club site......one of our club members is in the web hosting business.......he is just starting to pull our site together........

URL=www.fdlaa.com....

Let me know if you are interested, and I will follow up on this end......

I'm heading for warmer weather soon, starting with a stop in Apopka to pick up the SuperBandit at last.....

Merry Chistmas and Happy New Year to you and your family....

Dustin,
If that does not work out for you, please let me know I can help you out I think. We have a dedicated server which can handle lots of hits. My web master is easy to work with and loves jets.

Well it's running for now....
If I continue to have problems have to take someone up on their generous offers. Thanks guys!!

Miguel,
The system I am using makes posting updates and photos very easy. I can just FTP them in a format i like to the server. Plus I am trying to teach myself how to use various web page programs. Basically just something to do while glue dries. I created the the site mainly so family and friends can check up on the progress of my project (my life for the next few months).

Back to work

Perhaps in the near future I will be assembling for a friend same plane from BVM, its depends what he decides between this and the F-100....My vote is for the F-86...!

Good luck with your project, I will be following it closer.

Regards,

Miguel

Dustin
I have a good experience with a company in Canada that hosts my web page.
www.myhosting.com. I am not advertising for them, just sharing my good experience with you.
visit their site and check their offers. the price starts from 10$ a month and goes up depending on storage & bandwidth.
you can upload your pages via FTP, and the site have a good command console to maintain your account.
you can learn a lot by visitng their knowledge database.
I ve been with them for two year & am very satisfied.

Tim, thanks for letting me crash at your place!

You are correct, you can't live on balsa dust and CA fumes alone. Glad I could ring in the new year with a little kero and a king cat. Wish I could have flown more

Back to work on the sabre in the AM.

Well happy new year to all.

I have made it easier to enter the site, no more entering through a cover page. Just use this link:

www.DustinBuescher.com

Use this for tonight if the other is down:

www.uwplatt.edu/~buesched

Hopefully I will get something done on it today! I should have days 6 and 7 updated tonight.

Hey Dustin

I wanted to check in with you. I sent you an e-mail or two regarding Flite Metal and some pictures, and a question. It seems you've been traveling a little, but then I thought perhaps your server might have blocked my e-mails with the pictures. Not a big deal but I was just curious if you got them. Nice job on the building thread. I am enjoying it.

Best rgards

Yes it is, I plan to use a Jetcat P-120 for power.
I will update the site to be a bit more specific to what it is and what will be going into it as far as equipment.
Thanks for asking.

Dustin, nice job. I thought the BVM F-86 80" was all composite like the F-100, but I see it is of classic construction. The stabs and fin are ribs and spars too?
With this kind of frame the price is......no comment.
Thank you for share the pics with all.

Dustin, how much access room is there under the hatches in the fuse? I want one of these but access to all the components in the plane is a big deal for me and I never good a look inside one of the new ones that you have. Is there one hatch or more for the fuse? Just one more stupid question for now, the wings and stabs got me wondering, the fuse is composite.....right? Thanks, Gary.

Not to hijack Dustin's thread, but the only built up items of the BVM F-86 80" are the wings. The flaps and ailerons are prebuilt at the factory, and they are wood structures as well. The fuse, stabs, elevators and fin are composite. It is my understanding that the wings are built up primarily to avoid the penalty at Top Gun and perhaps other venues for composite wings. Because of the scale there is a LOT of room for all the components, big equipment tray up front and two hatches that basically open the whole fuse from the front of the sliding canopy to the fuse joiners.

I saw this kit at Superman. I have big gorilla hands, and I could work pretty comfortably in this fuse. It has a great deal of access and is very well laid out. THe man did his magic on this kit as well. It will make a great looking aircraft.

I asked BV about the wings and the Top Gun penalty, and he said that a major consideration also was the cost of the kit. The composite wings like the F100 apparently add a great deal of cost to the kit. I think the F100 wings had to be composite and factory built to be sure they would withstand the stresses that plane puts on them and make sure that everything in them (flaps, slats, landing gear) would be aligned correctly as they are so complex.

The F-100D cost $4195 and the F-86 80" cost $"3495. For $700 I'd prefer the F-100 ALL COMPOSITE.....if I were a rich man[][]

And I forgot that at the F-86 price we must to add the $195 for the fowler flap hardware. So the difference is only $505. I will think.....

Things have slowed up for the past few days. New snow means other work must be done, and some play too. Anyways the fuse has been started and the wings are almost ready for glass. I expect to have the fuse done by the end of next week. We'll see......

Thank you to those who have asked real questions both here and E-mail.

The tail and wings were mounted today, the canopy slides, and the nose gear was installed. It looks like an airplane now.
