Yes those are the brackets for the Power Box batteries , and I have to say they are great and convienent . I am sharing a set between two planes ...My Comp Arf and My H9 330s ....its nice to have the charger already built in and so far I have got 6 -14 min flights running all 8611s on both planes without charging ...Probably could have got more but thats all I had in me that day ....The brackets make it so easy to switch from one plane to the other.

I have a Composite Arf 2.6 meter Extra 330L with a DA 100 and didn't have to cut any holes in the cowl. If you do your probably the exception. Also the plane flies GREAT with the DA 100. GO with the DA for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and enjoy.

I recently got my first comp arf. I am chomping at the bit to fly it[:@]
Does anyone know where I would get the hardware to do my rudder like this?

Actually I doubt swbmfg has all the components needed for the floating bellcrank setup. Gene Payson at www.troybuiltmodels.com sells a complete floating bellcrank setup for two servos.

I was gonna do that with mine and bought the arms from SWB but changed my mine. I'm just using the stock set-up and it works just fine.

Still not sure what to do about the rudder. Jens as well as another guys I know, put the rudder servos in the tail. I like the idea of a simple direct drive setup that I know is locked in. Waiting for the container to get here!-)
SWB hardware looks very nice.

Joe,

Most of the 2.6's I have seen (including mine) have the servos either in tandom or side by side, up by the spar with a pull/pull configuration. If you are using a DA 100 you will balance with no lead. I have the composite arms with no tiller arm. This seems to hold up fine.

I have been flying my 2.6 with a single hi power servo with pull/pull on the rudder for over 1 year. Many flights in her with the DA100 and she does a very nice knife edge loop. Keep it simple stupid and you will not go wrong. save some money on all that linkage and SWB tray parts. In this day and age a 400 oz servo is easy to find.

Joe, the only reason I put the rudder servos in the tail of that Fiberclassics Extra, was because I purposely wanted to build it as a 3D plane. For IMAC, all servos should go in the fuse per the instructions. For IMAC a single 280 or so inoz servo on the rudder is fine, but for 3D and those big KE loops, KE walls etc. more power is needed.

The last picture (the one to the right) The yellow "package" to the left nearest the camera - what is that?? Batteries? - And if - then for what?

The two other batterypacks. How big are they in mAh´s and NiCd or NiMH?

Default RE: Composite-Arf 2.6 Extra 330

I have 3 Duralite batteries. The top two are 2800 redundant packs running the servos and rx through the Powerbox. Two packs just in case one fails and then each is a redundant pack (each are 2 -1400 packs combined). I guess I could eliminate one of these and still have a back-up, but I trust 2 completely separate packs better. The other pack is a Duralite 1900 pack for the ignition. I can get 10 to 13 flights of 15 min each easy without any charging concerns.

I could save a bit of weight if I really wanted to, but she flies so nice and light the way she is, I have no reason to change her.

Hi again.

Thanks for your answer.
If I understand you right then you actually have 4 times 4 cells with 1400mAh on each of them for the radio+servos??
To me it looks like a pack with 4 cells in each side of the plane. But maybe the picture cheats a bit? - It could also be a longer pack with 8 cells in each side. I think that is what you say it is??

By placing your ignition-batteries so close to the reciever doesn´t it give any problems at all??

Thanks Andy540T, the standard 2 servos in the supplied parts and location is my first choice, I won't even think I am smarter than Andreas or have extra energy right now to just tweek out about gear,. The reason I bring this up is not exactly how you set your plane up Jens but how JimO have described his rudder servo setup on his new 2.6 shulman. Have you seen it up at your field Andy? He says it flys very nice and he does not feel it is tail heavy. He is one of the smoothest oldschool pattern flyers I have ever had a chance to watch on a regular basis.
Jens, did you have your batterys aft of CofG on the FC 2.6? I just want a direct drive locked in feel to the rudder. I'll try to get some photos of Jims 2.6 if I see it soon. The install sounds different than Jens was.

No. I have 3 x 4 cell packs. Two, that each equal 2800 mAh and one that equals 1900 mAh.

I have never had a problem with the Ign batt close to the Rx.

BTW: Here are pix of my new Virtual Cockpit graphics.

Thanks Joe!
The ready to install unit (after assembly) weighs 3.9oz without the pilot bust for the 2.6 version. I have just started a build thread at the following link. I will be adding onto it over the next few days. Send me a e-mail if you want more information.
Thx,
Kregg

Thanks, I am just weighing my options right now. I still have a month of building to do (at my current pace) I do like the idea of the floating Belcrank system.

OK guys
Has anyone done the stock woodplate servo mounts on the wings and if so did you have the output shaft of the servo more toward the LE or the TE of the wing?

Thanks for the help, she is coming along nicely.

Put it more towards the leading edge, If you don't the cleveses will touch each other. I know because mine do and I could barley fit a jam nut between them. You will also have to elongate the slots or you will not be able to max. out your ATV's. Do this on the elevators also.
Where are the pic's?

I have flown my Extra 2.6 just a few weeks ago.
It fly's very good but to be honnest, I think my 2meter Funtana Pro fly's better.
I just have 10 flights with it and maybe I have to set-up the mixers, c/q and that sort of things better.
I readed some discussions about the rudder set-up, I am very happy with mine, works perfect.
Here 3 pictures of the rudder set-up.
#1 Neutral
#2 Full deflection
#3 If 1 servo does not work or does not match properly.

The Da100 with the MTW cannisters runs great but when I fly knife edge and/or inverted, the power drops immidiately.
I already have installed a TBM carb plate but that does not do much.
Maybe the engine is not broken properly in yet (3 gallons) and I have to wait before I properly tune the engine.
Does somebody have the same experience with it?
Here is the video of the maiden flight, actually the second without the trim phases.

Didier,
Three gallons through your DA100 is not nearly enough to get any kind of opinnion about its power. Run 10 gallons through it and switch to Saber or other synthetic. My DA100 would rip props to myy delight, Mejzlik28x10, NX26x12 and NX28x10.
