RE: L39/Wren 44 Pics and video
Hi Paul,
Out of all the photos I took, I got very few decent inflight shots of the L39, mostly due to it's size L39 speed + size = photo nightmare.
Got a few of it on finals, which can be seen along with the rest of Saturday's W&W coverage [link=http://www.rc-expertise.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=coppermine&file=thumbnails&album=40]*here*[/link]
An RC-expertise W&W video is being compiled and edited, and i'm pretty sure your L39 was videoed. Any ideas about that final landing yet?
Dave

David,
Thanks for the info. Do you know if anyone has used a slimline wing servo for the elevators. Not sure there is one available that would fit, but was curious if it would be possible?? Did you consider it when you built your second L39?
Thanks!
Mike

Hi Mike,
I haven't built my second L39 yet, but all the parts are assembled ready to start. . No 1 is still flying and I am trying to get my Mig 29 completed !
Sure there is plenty of room for whatever elevator servos you wish but I think the 361s are perfect. regards, David.

David,
I was trying to find out if I could use a JR DS168 http://www.horizonhobby.com/Shop/ByC...ProdID=JRPS168 installed directly in each side of the horizontal stab instead of running the push rods from a single servo in the fuse. Do you know anyone that has done it successfully? I guess my only concern is running the servo wires near the thrust tube.
Thanks again!
Mike

I Think Dave Wilshere did just that. BUT dont forget that this model, mine certainly, needs nose ballast. more weight aft means more weight needed forward, meansd aheavier model !

My L-39 arrived today!!!! I am happy now!
I also runned the W-44 last week in the bench just for test purposes and it worked ok, but this little
engine screams at 190K rpm! never heard nothing like it.

Dont worry about the noise at high rpm at close proximity. When the a/c is airborne its actually very quiet !

David.

Does anybody know what is happening with Vaclavs email? I have tried & also but both 'bounced'.
Unfortunately I need to order a replacement L39, as I destroyed mine this weekend. It was its 3rd flight, and entirely my fault. DOH!
Cheers from NZ.

Sengle,
I had the same e-mail problems, but he seems to receive them anyway, I had an overnight reply from both my last 2 e-mails to him, both of which appeared to bounce.
Sorry about your loss. Mine only lasted 2 flights. Servo gear failure.
Number 2 is on order.

Don't worry about the noise, although I'm still to experience the noise from mine, I have seen and heard Mr. Gray's L39 fly, and, as David says, it is very quiet when up there!

David G. and Dave03B: the noise is not much a concern, I liked it!!! althought this little one didn´t have the rumble of a big block engine, it certainly has a high pitched scream that is pretty impressive.... as you said, it should be lower at a distance and with a concealed installation.
Smartmove: I am # 19/2005 and it arrived yesterday with a friend´s # 20/2005. they were sent last week from CZ..
Sengle: sorry about your crash... don´t worry about Vaclav´s email issues. they bounce but
they work.
B. Regards, Enrique

RE: L39/Wren 44 Pics and video
I have a couple of questions. I received the Spring Air gear for my L39 yesterday. The main gear mounts are wider than those molded into the wing. Did anyone else have to cut into the wing to make them fit?
Also, what is the preferred method of attaching the stab? I know there are several examples using screws or cotter keys. Did anyone just glue the stab on?
Thanks.
Hal

If I remember, one wing had to have the gear opening enlarged a little more than the other.
For the stab, just put a screw ito each and into the CF tube from the bottom. It will be removable. If you go the permanent route, you may regret it if you have any problems.

Another L39 arrives. This new one is that of Rick Butnaro in pseudo RAAF markings to compliment my "RAF" version at Maitland, NSW, Australia. Strong winds prevented the first flight but everything checked out OK ready for its maiden. My machine flew in the winds but landing was not fun. Wren performance in both machine was, as usual, first class.

Hi guys. I just put my NIB L39 up for sale on the marketplace. I was so looking foward to having this plane but unfortunately I do not build and the build quotes I received were too expensive in relation to the cost of the plane.[][][]

David,
I received my L39 a couple weeks ago. The wing does not seat flush against the fuse . I have to push pretty hard to get it to seat because there is someting blocking it. Did either of yours require a bit of sanding on the fuse or wing root to get it seat without force? I am sure if I tighten the bolts I can get it flush, but I was expecting a nice perfect fit?
Thanks!
