Default Ceramic Capacitor

I just got the Slow Jazz Indoor BiPlane from Global; it came with a Motor and gear box; looks like something from GWS; the motor did not have one of those ceramic capacitors or the Positive and Negative wires sodered to it; the instructions state to soder the ESC to the motor, any problems in doing this, is the capacitor needed, exactly what does the capacitor do. Thanks.

Default RE: Ceramic Capacitor

The capacitor suppresses arcing between the brushes and commutator. The arcing can be a cause of glitching. Chances are you'll see some reduced range and/or glitching under power without the capacitor.
