Default Best f-16

TO ALL MASTER OF RC JET,,, Can anyone tell me which is the best ducted fan F-16 you can buy today? Like best in scale/price and Quality. I know that the BVM is excellent but is no longer available and the next one is the yellow Aircraft.

In the size you are asking about, Hands down the Yellow A/C F-16C. I have flown almost all of the F-16's out there and if I was to pick a preferred one, it would be the Yellow A/C one. It is a superb flier either turbine or DF and for the price, scale looks, quality, support, and ease of flying, can't be beat.

In the larger category, Aviation Design wins my vote.

Just my personal opinion

For Ducetd Fan?? Yellow. No doubt about it. I would actually say the older Ployester version "C" which is lighter too. There is one for sale here on RCU.

My best advice, if you go for a Yellow, keep it light and simple. No detailed cockpit, no unnecesary hardware. They fly soooo good when they are light.
The newer version is a lot nicer, but heavier. I would recommend that one for 14lb turbine rather than a DF, although mine flies OK with a Ramtec/OS. 91

If you buy one and need the scale ger let me know.........I have a spare set.

Good luck,

David

BTW,

The BVM is also great on DF. A friend of mine is selling 75% complete. PM me if you want his contact info.

Ditto what other said about Y/A F-16. I’ve built and flow 2 Y/A F-16-A and 2 F-16-C. The “A†model seems to be my favorite because it is grass field capable due to its landing gear placement but unfortunately, they do not make the “A: version anymore.

BTW, it works great with Dynamax/OS-91 combo.

Regards

Ben

I have pictures of the modifications I did to mine at home. i couldn't get the yoke mechanism to work correctly, so I splitted it in two parts, each with it's own individual servo. I will post some pics tonight.

Does your have landing gear doors?

If you need more room to work with, you can remove the exhaust cone and put it back in place using small screws.

Vin, do you think the avoonds would be good with DF power, even though he markets it for it. seems kinda BIG for DF. Nick

BTW, I had the c model carbon version of YELLOWS F-16. It is awesome, minimal build time, and amazing dtails. Mine was for P-70 power however, but should make a great DF

Hey,

The new Y/A Falcon is actually not heavier than the old one. The new one's airframe is about 4 ounces lighter. When you factor in the heavier hardware, it comes in about one ounce lighter. This is in the C model.

MAY I CHIME IN? I HAD THE YELLOW F16A MODEL.RAMTEC FAN,OS 91 AND THAT THING FLIES GREAT.NOTATION HERE IF YOU USE A RAMTEC FAN,YOU WILL NEED TO BIAS THE INTAKE WIDER WHEN YOU GLUE IN THE LINER ETC TO ALLOW MORE AIRFLOW TO THE FAN UNIT AS THE RAMTEC FAN HAS A HIGHER PITCH THAN THE DYNAMAX.INTAKE ALSO REQS TWO OBSURE AUX AIR "PORTS"TO BE CUT IN,,,,THESE ARE IN A SCALE LIKE LOCATION.IF YOU USE THE DYNAMAXMFAN MAKING THE INTAKE WIDER IS NOT AN ISSUE. MINE CAME IN AT 14LBS.I AM TOTALLY AHPPY WITH THIS JET,SHE LOCKS INTO PITCH,DOES EVERY BIT OF 150MPH AND IS VIRTUALLY STALL PROOF...WILL NOT SNAP OR DUTCH ROLL ETC.GOOD LUCK. GOGGLES

I seond what Goggles said. On one of my maidens, the airplane was very tailheavy and it literally remained airborne like a parachute. It did not snap, she just went in straight and level. Really incredible performance.

I've flown planes for about 15 years and was thinking of getting a d/f jet...would the YA F-16 be fine for starters?

Well.......it is not difficult to build, but those landing gear doors could be a real pain in hte *****.
I would look for a model with standard landing gear such as a Starfire (Yellow Aircraft).

As for flying, yes you shold be able to handle an F-16.

Good luck,

David

hey spit whats up. a while age i met a couple of guys who did the very same transition you speak of.but........they did not use a intake liner, follow me.....added main gesr doors thinking that with the doors closed this would effect drawing air into the duct, into the fuselage cavity and into the more efficient fan unit.i saw the maiden and......not good.once the gear doors closed the fan suction was so hard the air system for the retracts could not open the doors to drop the gear for landing.flight performance extremely marginal.a few years ago rc jet mag had an issue of a guy who built a full duct system in his byron,w/doors etc and said to have had great grassfield ability.critical of f16 is the small intake opening with in a duct fan set up is critical to have volume to feed fan unit.mimic what yellow has done and you may see good sucess.intake and exhaust area are crucial to falcon sucess. GOGGLES.

WHY DOULD YOU WANTO TO DO THAT? They fly good just the way they are with the Byrojet.

I just crashed my Yellow F-16 on my 2nd attempt to take off. Took all 500 ft of runway, lifted up on ground effect then landed hard on the grass. Minor damage.

EFFECTIVE YESTERDAY, I'M DONE WITH DUCTED FANS!!

But God it would be great if it was a little bit easier to buy a turbine. LOL I have the money now, but no turbine.
