Ziroli Staggerwing from The Aeroplane Works
Hi gang,
The Aeroplane Works is pleased to announce that it will be going into production on kits for the Ziroli Staggerwing Beech soon!
This design is a masterpiece of craftsmanship with elegent beveled parts that just fall together.
Anyone interested should give me a call.

Hi Mace -
If you ever get wanderlust and find yourself relatively near Tennessee, see if you can make time to spend a couple of hours in Tullahoma. The Beech Staggerwing Museum is in Tullahoma.
They have G-17 Serial #1, along with several operational 17s (operational in that the engines are still dripping oil in the catch pans on the floor).
The neatest thing is the G-17 which is complete except for covering. The woodworking evident in that airframe is amazing.

I live two miles from the Staggerwing Museum and I can't find the time to go see it. It's probably been ten years since I've been there.

You can find specs on www.ziroliplans.com if Nick has updated his site. I saw his fly at Warbirds over Delaware. Its a giant scale gas powered plane.

My site is here: http://www.theaeroplaneworks.com ... but as I have not finished the kits yet, it is only listed as a TBA on my site.

RE: Ziroli Staggerwing from The Aeroplane Works
Hi,
The real issue is the landing gear. According to Robart, they won't be available till fall. I haven't had a chance to talk to Nick since the WRAM show, maybe he can put a little heat on Robart.
I think there's a little mix up with the designations, the uncovered Staggerwing is a E-17B, not a G-17S, although they have two G-17S there, B-3, "Big Red", and B-7. There were only 20 G-17S's made, and they were made after the war. I'm going to make the G-17S, which is going to require major rework of the fuse from the door forward, and, of course a new cowl. The other changes to turn it from a D-17S to a G-17S are pretty easy by comparison.
I'd love to go to the museum just to get the length of the cowl, since all the reference drawings are wrong.
BRG,
Jon
