Default My typhoon 3D diary

Hey guys,

I just got my typhoon and i have flown it twice. The plane is awesome and i recommend it to anyone who has any flying experience. You have more success if you have flown a plane w/ ailerons. The plane fairly stable for a low wing plane. If you set the throws to minimum then it flies like a trainer! My plane had no defects exept one plug wasn't connected. (not a big deal) . Typhoon has nice vertical performance. you can do most of the 3d tricks with HIGH rates. I would not recommend getting the " Plug & play" one beacause its much more expensive. it doesn't include battery, charger, reciver and radio. I wanted to buy plug and play but price was too salty. The Z-foam is very durble...
For intermediate pilots i recommend be careful with setting the trims (i almost crashed when i was setting the trims) LOL!

I can't put pictures up because of slow internet.I m gonna a try to put up only one [:'(]

I ill try :

I wanted to ask what tricks should i start with?
I have done a loop. too easy! i want go to some more advanced trick HELP! which would be the next step? i have mastered flying typhoon and i can do nice landings all the time. maybe roll, outside loop, barrel roll, sloppy hover, inverted flight? dno thats all i know about beginners trick :P

I hope to find asnwers from here. thanks

You can try the snap roll. Get the plane up in the air, then push the left stick up and to the right, and the right stick down and to the right. You can also do this same trick only with the left stick down and to the right instead.. you will get the "falling out of the sky" look.

OK thanks for your idea, i just got back from flying and i made some rolls and also tryed a roll on high rates , FUN!
I will try make a "slow roll" and "snap roll" .
I'm really happy to find posts here . YOU guys are welcome to post !

heh, i dont want to be sme kind of nerd but the actual snap roll should be done like this :

1. for a positive snap , pull hard up elevator.

2. as you see a pitch up, move the ailerons and rudder to full deflection (right or left)

3. make a "check mark" with the right stick (down)

4. when the plane is 1/4 turn from where snap is to end, release rudder before ailerons

5. Your done!

Well i read it from a magazine so i guess this is the right way

I have made couple of new tricks now ie. snap roll (thx for idea), inverted flight, slow roll (sloppy), and also i tryed to torque roll.
I think the best one atm is inverted flight its quite challenging and its not too bad . I'm trying to do a inverted hover.

Thanks for reading my post!

I have been flying for quite long time now
atm. what i can do is this :

Loops- easy

Rolls- easy

Inverted flight- mostly easy but the plane will sometimes go forward the ground

Hovering- medium- I can stay in hover for about 7 seconds then the nose will drop.

outside loop- done nicely

harrier- so, and so...

snap roll- Hard- i just cant do the snap!

Four point roll-medium- it comes out quite nice

This is all in my reaching of skills

Hope to hear new tricks for me!

Nose drop on a hover -- Try adding a little weight to the tail. I started by taking a small screw and fixing it to the tail with clear tape. Didn't notice much difference, so I kept changing the size of the screw to next bigger size until it became noticeably easier to hover.
Also, as the nose starts to drop, give it a little more power and use the rudder to get the nose back up (if its dropping to either side), or the elevator (up if nose drops forward, down if nose drops backwards). I hope this makes sense when you read it.

Give it a try.

I use rudder and elevator all the time ( to get the plane's nose up and stay straight ) but yea, the idea about CG is quite intresting
I'll try it.

Also does anybody know how to stay on level when doing a roll?

thanks for everything.

I just came from flying.
I wanted to see how much does it have vertical power... i want straight up until the plane stopped, stayed on level and started torque rolling, LOL!

Man!
And it was totally straight nose to the sky.
It spined nicely until i added some left aileron to get more spin, that was a big mistake and the plane just went out of torque roll! [&:]

I made my first "hammer heads".
it wasn't something too hard on high rates.

I want to buy a Li-poly battery, but im not sure which would suit in the canopy the best? Im thinking about "Impulse" 2100 maH pack, or Kokam 2000 mah pack. Parkzone recommends 2100 mah by thunder power but thas the most expensive one.
I just read about the review in "airplane news" and it said to us kokam 2000 mah battery.

BTW, has everyone changed typhoon's motor to an outrunner brushless motor? I know it's not really important beacause the stock motor has plenty of power, but i just wanted to know...

Note: plz can anybody say how to stay on level while doing rolls?

I really hope to find answer to my question

I got realflight g2 w/ transmitter. now im doing most of the aerobatics on that easily.

This is my report card:

Torque roll: I can make about 2 turns and than the nose will drop

Harrier: performed nicely

Hovering : I can almost make it but nose usually drops

Roll : im making those all the times

Knife edge : on high rates, the plane try's to slip out of edge but on low rates, plane stays on level and the trick is performed nicely.

Inverted hovering : I once got i for like 2 seconds in 90 degree angle

Snap rolls : Im still working on those

Four point roll : It comes out nicely until the end( knife edge) then it slips out

Shark tooth : easy but the plane is a little unpowered to do it perfectly ( climb about 200 feer)

I ill get lipo this weekend

I just made my first excellent snp roll.

I switched to high rates and the plane just slowed to about 20 mph (full throttle) and the tail just snapped in the air. everything was perfect, but it was really dark and i couldnt really see the plane so i almot crashed :x I saved the plane at the last moment before the crash! HUH! that was close.

Im also doing nice knife edge flight (love doin that!)

If you've programmed the standard speed controller that comes with the typhoon for lipo setting-you should'nt have any problems as the cutoff will occur well before the cells become discharged-go beyond that and it's bye bye lipo's!!!- I use Flightpower Evo20 1800mah 3s with the 13" prop- torque rolls are even easier with that setup and the trick I found to make it prop hang even easier is to move the battery back as far as possible-it will make level flight "interesting" unless you are gentle on the controls- since the supplied radio has'nt got anything like expo or atv(end point adjustments) I intend to swap the gear for my Futaba setup which will give me access to all the settings I require- the reciever supplied with the typhoon only seems to work with the original transmitter- other than that ,it's a really fun airplane to own..

[X(] I programmed the esc and tryed it.... awesome! but anyway I'm a total noob in electrics and that's way i wanna ask : wot 4 , what do you mean by have any problems as the cutoff will occur well before the cells become discharged-go beyond that and it's bye bye lipo's!! ?!

so if i have 2100 mah battery than i can fly about 20 minutes lol? or if i go beyond some # of minutes my lipo will say "bye, bye" ? [&o] or does the esc will burn ?! [&:]

Sorry if I did'nt make it clear to you-basically,once you've programmed the sp/controller for lipo, you fly the model as you normally would-on a full charge and using full throttle everynow and then-ie;vertical climbs and pullout from hovering, you should get a flight time of around 10-12 mins. This is what I achieve on my Flightpower Evo 20C 1800mah.... When you notice power beginning to fade, you should make preparations to land.
Regarding my comments about"bye bye lipo"-when the power fades, the cells will be approaching nominal pack voltage- ie: a 3s pack will show a voltage of 10.2- 11.1- IF you continued to fly,the voltage could drop to a level that would be harmful to the lipo- I do not know the technical specs for the typhoon controller-it will just cut the motor for you anyway once the battery is nearly empty, the reason I said this is that i've had experience's with some controllers that cutoff at a much lower voltage and I'VE ended up with a ruined pack.... Just go and have fun..

Mh, if you get 12 mins on your 1800 mah pack than i should get about 15 minutes? i guess so..
I will see, and report hw much flight time did i got..

Default RE: My typhoon 3D diary

wow!

I just made my flight with the 2100 mah impulse power lipo...
Now that was power! I made one circle around field (helf throttle) , to make sure the CG. Everything was fine !
Than I sayed the least, i added full power and the plane ran swiftly across the grass and went up in about 15 feet!
I pointed the nose up and the plane went up vertically abot 500 ft!!! than i pushed down elevator and started doing aerobatics.
Torque rolling is to easy! after I tryed some hovering down low and i could't make it as needed... (tail too light?)
but getting out of hover was easier than ever! I just added full power and plane went up vertically!!!
after about 14-16 minutes of flying I felt that power was not as strong as it was.
I made a perfect landing!!! Man that was nice flight!!!

PS: charger is perfect, just press start button.

hi,

I could't go flying today beacause I got home too late (about 8.00 pm) It was already dark []

as you see on high rates there are some serious control throws available. also you can see that I had to cut the battery's place a little bigger cause it didn't have room for that battery... But whatever! The CG is perfect! so who cares

hi,

I have 1 more question about lipo..
Do I have to discharge the lipo battery? I mean not totally but so i feel the torque will get weaker?
And also, how long flight times should i get with impulse power 2100 mah 3 cell battey??? 15 mins? or about 13?
One guy told that he used 2100 mah pack and got 20 minutes? is this possible?
