Yeah, that would make it much lighter and actually useable on the TLT!

I mounted the plastic sheel on the TLT and it is quite top heavy so when you turn, it would tilt the whole car (due to the 4-bar design..) It is okay for slow roack crawling but not for fast running / turning..

A lexan body would be good for sure!

You probably saw this before, but here's when I mount my Lunchbox's body on the TLT.. looks pretty good actually.. !

Yeah, the CF chassis is a direct replacement, it's pretty sweet. Kinda expensive though. I only picked it up on an impulse buy, lol...

The rims are for a Super Blackfoot. I think I'm going to pick up a set of Claw Dawg tires. I like the side tread on those better than the Yokohamas I'm using now.

As for the Lunchbox body in lexan, check ebay. Parma used to make these and the Pumpkin bodies in lexan. I picked up a Pumpkin lexan body for less than $20 on ebay a month or two ago. I've seen the LB bodies go for over $30 though...

Just did a quick search, no Lunchbox lexan shell.. but no big deal.. I am happy w/ the little truck body for now.. But yeah, if I can find a Lunchbox lexan body, I might just mount it up, and extend the wheelbase a little bit.. will be a cool looking truck for sure!

Keep us posted on your build...

I totally forgot, I also picked up a 'vintage' Parma Ford Aerostar (lol) lexan body that is a direct replacement for the LB. I painted it but never got around to trimming it and seeing how it looks... I got it off ebay for cheap... If you can deal with a minivan body (lol), you may want to search for those too...

Ha ha, I will need to look around then.. but I think for now, I will just drive it around as is.. send money on other stuff first... What's next?! Hmm.. either a brushless setup (just to see what's the deal..) or get a Dark Impact.. Maybe next month... !

Thanks guys!

I came home at lunch and threw on the AE shocks (just rear T4 shocks)...they work awesome!

Now I just need to figure out my binding problem...

The shocks is to extend the articulation, right? Can you post a pic of them on and how they extend the links?? How long are those shocks? Thanks!

I just got them because I didn't like the stock shocks. They are about 1/4" longer than stock. Much smoother too. I haven't extended the links or anything, yet...

I'll take a pic when I get home from work.

Yur getting axle binding from it being too tight. The stock link measurements give you much too tight. Extend them all about 2mm and then grease them and they should be fine. With those shocks though, it's impossible to stop the binding. I ran rear st shocks and t-maxx shocks and every little millimeter makes a difference since the stock links are so short. Once you extent the wheelbase ther will be no more problems.

Oh, you mean replacing the stock shocks.. I thought you are replacing the cantilever links w/ shocks.. (so when you need to flex to give articulation, the shocks can extend instead of rigid links... (see the How to build a better TLT article..)

Awesome, thanks for the info guys. Now that you both mention these points, I remember reading them in past pages...

I should compile all these useful tips/tricks/pointers/workarounds and put it on one nice page on rcproam.com .... I've been searching many sites on TLT building, crawling, etc and every place has different, but very useful info... It would be nice to have it in one location..

Yeah, I am considering getting a set of cheap shocks and put in some really heavy oil (so it won't extend under high speed, quick transition, but only open up when you are crawling / slow...)

Just need to make sure that it is the right length.. !

I put it up on the site, thanks a lot for typing that all out!

So I switched back to the stock shocks for now. I was having some issues with binding...

I finally read the RCU write up and between that one and Evader's, I have no more binding and great articulation!

I want some mini-t shocks now too..Gotta go hunting for those now...

Well, if you want a crawler wyatt you need to do some work You got the best possible base without using a pede tranny so if you REALLY want a single purpose crawler then extend it and put on some better shocks.

Some pics of it 'almost' done. Just waiting for the motor now...WIth the battery config that the RCU article outlines, the center of gravity really is improved!

He heI'm so used to seeing 7+ inches of articulation that looks kinda funny to me. But I would rather have that one than mine to tell you the truth...[&o]
