Default Saito 220 Problems

Ok guys, here it is. I am trying to get my 220 to idle. Anything under 2500 rpm and it dies. I have used a 20x6 Zinger, 20x8w APC and 22x10 Mejzlik. 20-20 fuel and Saito plug. I tried a Perry Pump with little change. Checked the pushrod clearance, cleaned the carb and reset both needles. Asking help with this for the sake of my Goldberg 77' Yak. My next step will be a onboard glo driver. Saito 220 drivers.....HELP!
Thanks,
Roy

G'day Mate, please define 20/20 fuel, & what heat range is the plug.
Good Flyin Mate.
Allan.

If the engine is inverted, go for the plug driver, and use OS-F plugs only.
Use Fresh fuel with 15% oil and 10% nitro.

Your props seems to be too big for your new 220. I would recommend an APC 18x8 or APC 19x8 too let her break in without overheating. Maybe overheating is causing it to die.

Idle just below 2000rpm should not be any problem for a big saito. Your idle needle is probably very rich or slightly lean. If the engine runs fine and idles at a lower rpm with the glow batteri connected then you need to lean the idle needle slightly. Let us know how it goes.

The 20x6 is just fine, if it will idle slower with the glow battery attached it is still too rich on the LS screw. If it won't it is too lean.

I am able to idle my Saito 220 w/ Biela 20x6 CF prop at about 2100 rpm. It took me a while to find the idle screw position that will result in a reliable idle.

When I switched to 30% nitro heli fuel, it helped my idle a little better.

Thanks guys!!!! Went to 18% on oil and 10% on nitro. Idle now at 2095 rpm with a little tweaking to do. Top side 7250 with good smoke. Thanks again.
