What's new in Sport Jets?
I am looking for a new sport jet in the 7-14lb. range that can be flown off a small field. Most of the new planes out are scale or larger jets. I know the Reaction 54, Boomerang Intro, AV8R are good planes but I am not really interested in them. I have heard that Composite-ARF is coming out with something similar to the Lightning and Flash this year in a 7lb. class. Does anyone know if Alan is going to re-do the Intro with glass fuselage and booms?
What about any other new jets that someone may have seen?

Looks like a shoulder wing R-54. Anything unique about it?

It flies a tad bit faster, has slick airfoil, but also lands just as slow or slower.
Handles like a Tower 60 trainer in the air, will do all arobatic maneuvers.
Pretty quick on a 12lbs turbine and gets off in less that 75ft on paved surface.

If one is after a very LARGE sport /trainer style jet I feel in my opinion that the Boomerang XL is hard to beat.I really don't think there is an easier to fly jet than this BIG beast. It is a pretty good looking jet in it's own right, looks far better than the Intro's !It actually has a slight Kingcatish look about it in the distance when in flight. The XL is very very easy to take off & land.It lands very slow, mine was clocked at 25 mph and that was in a slight cross wind to boot

What about the Phoenix from Aviation Design? I have heard it is pretty easy to fly. Does anyone have any experience with it?

I have only seen one fly.
It landed pretty hot with the nosegear collapsed.
It slid down the runway until the nose broke clean off.

Pretty sure this eliminates the XL

Hi Hal, what about a Fivejet, not exactly 'something new' but a sweet flyer. A friend is now building his second after dumb thumbing his first one in. Designed for a Wren 54 or equivalent but my buddy's flew great with a little MW44 from a grass field even with the weight of retracts. - John.

John, I forgot about the FiveJet. Are the wings built up or foam core? I would like to add flaps. Could you do this very easily?
Have you seen their new Bee-Jet? It's a really nice looking plane.
Johnny, that EZ is a neat idea. Where did you get the plane? I might try that for fun.

I definetely ,would not risk losing an expensive Turbine engine to a Plane designed for glow engines. I saw one of those Long-EZ 46ARFs fly at our field last weekend , On the second flight the Canard fluttered and broke off and the plane went in. It was powered by a Glow .46 engine. I would stick with the proven planes designed for turbines, It would be safer, just my opinion, Jack.

Well, there is absolutely no problem with conversions like that... as long as you take the time to make certain that the airframe is beefed up where needed (IF needed) for turbinized flight. I know its an ARF and therefore many guys will not want to have to rip it open and do mods. But then they should not think about flying it with a turbine!

OK, Just adding my 2 cents worth here.
the Facet has 2 different sizes, 1200 and the 2300,
1200 is a great 12 to 18 lb turbine
2300 is perfect for a 18 to 28 lb turbine.
I have ap-120 in mine
here is mine, the 1200 is a bit small fly's great off of grass or asphalt.
