Smugater aka Tom

That sounds vary reasonable, I just wonder how he would do it for a G-62 as I think it is/has a bit more displacement. but please post pic'when you get you unit..

I used 4 1/2 inch wheelson mine. Well I did it, I ordered my glass, epoxy and paint last night. Today I ordered a spinner. That was my extra $200.00. Hopefully this will be almost everything I need to be finished. Wow that is a neat word finished I never thought it would come. I am excited and nervous to see if it will fly. Like I have said all along this is my first REAL kit build.

Hi Cimara

I used 4.5 sullivan skylite with metal hobbsI know they are not true scale, but as I have said befor this kit is at best FUN scale even with most of the mods.

Ok Cliff its time for pic's, and don't let it intimidate you just go slow and ask questions, back a looong time ago I had a teach that said the only dummm question was the one you don't ask,

Wulf
How are you coming I need a fix, more pic's of the work you are doing, so I can be invious

Cheers Bob

PS Tim what is a outrunner 750.000[>:]

I used 4.5 wheels also...It would be too much to try to install anything larger...the main spar is in the way...If the struts were a half inch longer you could fit a 5 inch wheel...the last thing you want to do is start cutting into the main spar !!!!!!!! 4.5 wheels are ok...but you have to design the strut gear doors to look like the corsair door... If you follow the gear door design they include on the plans they are way out of scale...look at a picture of a corsair and you will see what I mean.

TopFlite GS 1/8 kit. Haven't fully decided on the version yet. Probably F4U-1D. My building buddy wants to do the 20mm cannons, but I'm not too keen on that version,

Hi Guys,

I built a 1/8th scale TF Corsair acouple of years ago and then had a stroke. I decided that the GS was easier to work on so I started one of those. My 1/8th, which is still in the garage has a Saito120 four stroke in it. Before I sell it I want to finish it and add a 90 degree elbow to it so that the exhaust can go somewhere else. Can anyone here recomend a source for this elbow? I know I have seen them. I also knew every nurse in both hospitals was madly in love with me. My wife says I'm sometimes wrong. I'm not real sure what she means by that but help me out if you can.

David[8D][8D][8D][8D][8D][8D]

Tomcat would this be the place to get them from WWW.PSPEC.COM.

Yes Winston, that's the limit of what will fit without mods. Try Aerotech's aluminum wheels at 4 7/8.

Here's a couple of shots for you George...slowly but surely.

I forgot to mention in the previous post that the corsair will be done up in the ( KOREAN WAR HERO 416 ) scheme, it flew off the deck of the Navy's USS Boxer during the Korean war.. this plane actually flew of of several different ships during the campaign...the entire plane is painted gloss insignia blue...this plane was later purchased by Joe Tobal..who restored and flew it in many air shows...

The cowl is the one provided in the kit it is glassed inside...I cut open the cowl flaps and they are set at about 20 degrees..their fixed in that position...the paint is Krylon fusion...right out of spray cans the paint is excellent..

Hi David

Your progress looks great..

Did you round the lower half of the fire wall to let the air out?? I did not on my first bird and the cowl got real warm (not hot) so on my current bird I followed Corsairjock thread and did the lower half, when I run a tank through on the ground at full to 3/4 throttle it only get worm to the tuch.

Yes I added extra wood behind the firewall and put a 1 inch radius all around the firewall behind the cowl flaps and also opened the bottom cowl area slightly.

amazing work on that tf cowl never would have thought one could get it to look that good. Some one needs to build a 1/5 scale aircraft carrier to fligh these off of sorry for the corny idea but it would be cool

Your build looks excellent. I note you are going to do it as the 416 USS Boxer scheme. Are you aware that this is the exact scheme that Hanger 9 have done their ARTF in. It is a lovely scheme but it would be a great shame if those at the field just thought yours was another Hanger 9 ARTF given all the work you have put in. Just my 2 pence worth
