Tomcat_104,
I went on dbalsa.com and didn't see any cockpit for the Corsair. Any more info or hints for finding it?
Thanks,
Gibbs

Hey Gibbs,
It's a liitle way down the page under "Sport Scale Cockpits", it's $35 and for TF, Ziroli or Byron. I didn't find a picture there but I called them and they sent me a pic. If I remember where I put the pic I'll send it to you. Let me know that you've found it.

cimara,
I did a search on RCU and ended up with a PICA P-51 that was too good to pass up. I searched the forums and educated myself first. I then used the "Buy / Sell" section to hunt for a plane. I didn't plan on a Pica (GS) but a deal is a deal! My plane was a kit not the plans only. O hope this helps........ a little.

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
thanks Tomcat and Bob that does help. I just dont want a total fiberglass plane its more fun to build with wood any one can bolt together 5 or six pices of plastic if you know what i mean. Iam a better crasher than a pilot i will go down to the local club when i get this corsair done and get lots of lessons from an experience warbird pilot

cimara,
Are those pictures above the P-51 wing or the Corsair wing? If it is the Corsair, I thought the whole wing got sheeted and then covered or glassed. What are the ribs for at the end of the wing? Is this a mod you did for more scale or what?

Cimara,
Can you post picture or PM me with them of e-mail me and let me see how it's done. Or can you just tell me what page of this thread it's on?
Tim,
I go to the LHS for a couple things and get several and usually forget what I went for. Now I make a list and check them off.

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
Gibbs first you cover the outer wing panels with 1/16 balsa and the center section with 3/32 . Then you will need some 3 views of the corsair take the 3 views and blow them up to be as close as possable to the wing size on the print . belive it or not there is very little diffrence untill it gets to the tips. I made new tips that matched that profile and sanded that to match the outer wing panels with the 1/16 balsa . then on the 3 views cut out the section with the fabric and use that as a pattern to cutout the fabric section of the 1/32 balsa. Then glue that over the 1/16 bals already on the wings upto but not over the center section .then you need to make lots of 3/32 by 1/32 thick balsa strips for the face ribs you will also need some 5/32 strips to replacate the thicker ribs in the wing . Ithink the thicker ribs is were the corsair wings were bolted togethr correct me if i am wrong .you can see my pattern in the center pic and the cut 1/32 balsa in the 1st pic .hope this made since

Gibbs forgot to mention on the 1/32 balsa use the trailing edge as a guide to place your pattern the glue it from the te forward . its the best way to get fabric section lined up

Winston,
If what I saw on their website really works that looks great. I'll talk to them after Chtistmas and then I'm just the kind of guy who would try something new. If I try it I'll let you know what the results are.
Merry Christmas!

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
Hi Bob,
I resemble that remark a lot. My wife accuses me of having my "head band on too tight", a lot I'm afraid. I love the Corsair and am willing to try anything or look at anything that will make my Corsair look a little better.
Merry Christmas!
