RE: Carl Goldberg Extra 330 ARF
If I were choosing between the 26gt, and the 35gt I would get the 35 hands down. I think the 26 would fly the plane, but not much else. 35cc is marginal power IMO for a plane of this size. I would look at getting a lightweight 45-46cc engine for this plane. Plus that 35cc is pretty heavy for the displacement again IMO.

I got my Brillelli 46 GT from http://brillelli.com/brillelli_engines.htm
its a great match for this plane .. awesome power with a Xoar 22x8 prop
this engine could easily hover a 15lbs plane. Hovers my 14lbs Extra 330 at 1/3 throttle.
Dont get much better then that.

Hey Iceman, not to be rude but most of your questions so far have been answered previously in the thread. I have read through it a couple of times myself just to be sure I didn't miss anything. There's a lot of good info already here.

Here's a few pic's, added the wheel pants back on cuz this motor has way more power then then i expected and the 3.5oz of the wheel pants dont matter.

I just ordered this airplane for a winter project, and was going to use the Brillelli 46. Now Scott goes and offically announces the new 50cc. Will this plane handle all that power? It's only 3 ounces heavier then the 46.
Here's a link.

The Brillelli 46 is way more then enough for this Extra 330. Yes i think it could handle the 50. The only way i'd even think of placing a 50cc on this plane is if later i wanted to use the 50cc for another project.

That's why I would get it. Plus it's only an extra $100.00 over the 46.

The 46 is 2.8 cubic inch. My 3250 super tiger is 1.98 pulls it right along. I think the 50 would be a bit of over kill. That from a firm believer in more's law. The Plane was designed for Glow. Like the GP Giles 202. So many overpowered them and most of them had disastrious results.

I don't see any problem now that I think about it.

http://www.macspro.com/tunedpipes.asp Go to the Macs site for alot of what you would need to know about tuned pipes. A Bisson muffler is pitts style muffler with two down pipes. A Tuned pipe adjust for the sound pulse from the exhaust opening to bounce off the back of the pipe to send a pressure wave back into the combustion chamber to increase compression of the air fuel mixture.

RE: Carl Goldberg Extra 330 ARF
Sorry about the goofs luds & others. Old age I guess. Have had at least 100 flights with my 330. Using a Saito 1.80 FS. Adequate power but no big deal. Don't know if CG has changed the wheels, but if not, repace them..originals are junk. Make sure you reseal the covering seams before your first flight & about every 20 flights thereafter. It easily done with a hot iron. Clean with a good window wash fluid first. The reseal will prevent an impossible reseal if not done. Also, Monocote the inside leading edge of the landing gear cover. This will prevent exhaust from parting the film. Most important, discard the provided bolts which hold the landing gear in place. I had a rough landing with a cross wind & tore up the gear & some of the fuse. No major damage but it could have been prevented if I used break away nylon bolts. Have used nylon on my other 1/4 scales & they work fine. I used !/4 ply with blind nuts on the inside & bolted from the outside. Easy to remove the gear if necessary. Hope I have helped.

RE: Carl Goldberg Extra 330 ARF
I'm starting to shop around for parts for my new E330. The first thing on my list is servos. I'm thinking about Futaba S3050's for all surfaces. 4 aileron, 2 elevator, and two rudder. I may go with 1 higher torque servo on the rudder for a push pull set up. Has anyone done that yet, and how will it work out for high stress 3D flying.
