60 size kit selection
Hi, I am looking for a winter project to be used as my second low wing trainer. My first was a Goldberg tiger it flew well I crashed and rebuilt a few times and eventually the plane had a battery failure and was swollowed up in the woods forever. I would like to get a 60 size low wing trainer next to "complete" my training. As I see it there are only 2 kits that really fit that catagory. One is the Sig 4 star 60 ajnd the Golberg tiger 60. Can anyone make other sugestions regarding a possible plane (kit). I like the Sig Somthin Extra but it is only a 40 sized plane. Help?!

RE: 60 size kit selection
The SIG Astro Hog fits the 60 size low wing trainer category. It is a really good flying plane. It is considered a builder's kit. Some parts are just printed outlines on the wood for you to cut out. Lots of blocks to carve and sand.

I'll second the vote for the Venture 60. If you are considering a Four Star
go with the Venture instead. It is everything the Four Star is and more.
A great kit to build and a great flying airplane.

I'll...uh...third the vote for the Venture 60. It's an excellent flying airplane, and the quality of the kit is phenomenal. Get the wheel pants

Bruce Tharp is actually the guy who designed the 4*40 and 4*120. The 4*60 was engineered by someone else based on those designs.

The Kwik Fli from Home Hobby solutions would be a good one http://www.homeandhobbysolutions.com/ More info here http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4221047/tm.htm

RE: 60 size kit selection
Thank you all for replying. I have to agree the Venture seems to fit the bill. A little more pricey but it seems worth it. Would a 60 sized 2 stroke work out and if so any recomendations. I have only flown evolution .46 and the "seasoned" flyers tell me it is not a "real" engine because it doesnt sound like one.!!?? I however enjoy the ease of use and the power it has. How would a supertiger fair in comparison??

RE: 60 size kit selection
The Venture that I flew had a ringed OS 61 SF in it. It pulled
the Venture around with authority. Any modern 61 should
do even better. My personal preference would be the
Thunder Tiger TT61 Pro.
The Venture does not need to be overpowered. In fact
Bruce warns against doing so on his web site.

Yep, agreed. I've a OS .91 FS in mine and don't often use more than half throttle. It'll go straight up with full throttle. Any .60 sized two stroke would be plenty, I'm sure.

I think I'll take a 5th.............errrrr.........make the 5th...........awwww.........you can't beat the venture. My trouble is I am still building mine, as I am not a very proficient builder. Happy New Year all.
