RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
Tim,
What starting system are you using? I too have a G-62 but haven't decided yet on spring start, EI, conventional jump-start. I got word my parts were shipped from Wingspan Models today. I think the camera would e a good choice and work well with the mounting choices you have made.

Tomcat_104,
I'm using the B&B spring starter and cup engine mount. I also got the throttle and choke linkage for my G62. I am going to see how well it starts with the spring starter and if their are problems I will probably get the jump start system. I don't have a test stand so I'll wait and start it when I'm done with the plane. I also saw in Fly RC a website for digital coreless metal geared servos from Ace Hobby. Their web site is www.acehobby.com. They are proud of their servos because they are a little high in price. These servos are for large Warbirds. I think they are top notch and thinking of going with the $79.00 ones. Look at them and let me know what you think.

Gibbs,
I looked at the Ace Hobby servos and they looked very good. I'm sold on the servo reducer from Dionysus and it doesn't work on digital servos. I was looking at the Hobbico MG 70 which is $35.00 each and only 133.3 oz of torque (from Tower). I'm thinking abouta jump start system for mine. I'll take a picture of my test stand for you. I built it out of one piece of lumber from my local Home Depot. I forgot about my throttlr linkage so I'll get it ordered tomorrow. AH is real proud of their servos, have you looked at Futaba servos yet?

Found some thing out today if you use EI you cant use a spring starter at least for ch ignitions . you can use the jumpstart with the spring starter though. heres some pics of what I have done so far need to make a note not to cut out the wheel well before I make the wheel well doors and to clean up [&o]

Just got my lights from Wingspan Models! Who says there's no Santee Clause. Only thing is they say on the packages "3.0V to 5.5V". No 6V listed. Another reason to use Dionysus's voltage regulator I guess. I was leaning toward an EI from CH Ignitions, are you sure that you can't use a spring starter? Do you have one yet?

cimara,
How much were the wheels? Also did you make your sliding canopy or is it from Iron Bay?
Tomcat_104,
I am going with the Hobbico's MG 70 servos. Also you should not make the mistake I made. I got the throttle linkage and didn't think about the choke linkage. You can order them as a complete set up from B&B for just a little more money. Now I have a throttle linkage I can't use right now. The complete linkage is great. You will definitely want a choke servo and they come ready to go. All you do is set up the pushrods and they will connect to the linkage with a regular clevis or quick connector.

Gibbs they were 125 .00 + shipping They are also 4 7/8 inches in diameter wich is perfict anything bigger and they might hang on the wing ribs. I should have 1/8 inch clearance on the closest side . Ialso forgot my choke link thanks for reminding me I need to wright that down.Is there any way of not using a servo to close the choke whith out having the link out side the cowl. the conopie is one I made heres a link to it working with a servo http://www.rcuvideos.com/view_video....b372271e980da6

im a math teecheer! i have the robart aluminums very nice! using a 6v 3000mah pack and an mpi voltage reg you insure that no more than 6 volts goes thru the rx. a fully charged rx batt can spike 7 volts so the regulator works well. most LHS carry them you dont need a special reg and rember the voltage will be lower than 6 with all servos operating

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
O.K. I got the spring installed, but now I have another question. The prop does not seem to go all the way through the compression stroke. Is it supposed to? The instructions say to only turn the prop back 1/2 turn. Am I doing something wrong or is this working right? I did not try to start it, didn't even put fuel in it, I was just flipping the prop.

Cliff Set your prop so that the blades line up with the notches on the hub, if all is right you should be just be for you get to TDC.. when you take that blade and wind it back to the 3 oclock position let go and if you have primed it it will fire, I hope this is clear, If not I can try to take a 30sec vido of how I have mine set upand post it.

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
the prop needs to be pulled back further than that try 3/4 turn. when you let go it should go through the stroke. the plug idea is a good one see if you get a spark

cimara,
Can you take pictures of your servo set up for the canopy? If you already have them let me know. I haven't gotten those patterns for the wing ribs yet, when did you send them?
