there are a coupla of others like the ailerons and on some planes the top of the out board flap was fabric covered. From what I have read about the time the -5 was being developed, they switched to all metal except the rudder, elevator, and the ailerons. so to know exactly what you need you would have to have a BUR number, if you are trying to model a specific bird, you might check with Dave Bronk on ( Corsair buffs and history hunters) thread,

Hope this dose not muddy the watter to much

im doing a f4u-3 so the ailerons were fabric covered. I just thought it would be neat to cover the wing portions that were reall fabric with coverite and simulated stitching. It loooks like a million on the rudder and elev. Id have to add false ribs toi get the scale look but it would be lighter than all that wood glassed

the 3 on the bottom blinked. the tail and dorsal light did not the nav lights on the tips green and red did not but the blue light on top of the wing did blink.
There is a light on the tail? I can't find this in any scale docs that I have. I am also assuming that the landing lights in front of the landing gear on the leading edge of the wing were only on for landing. They look like head lights. Please excuse my ingnorance as if I was a real pilot I would probably know the answers.

cimara,

Are you putting lights on yours? If you are can you post pictures as you go so I can understand how to do it. I am a retard when it comes to electronics. I do know how to put in a light bulb and switch on the light. By the way no rib patterns again today.

If your tip blocks are not on it can be done by picking up an extension drill to drill a stright hole from the tip and behind the wheelwell

Timothy

No reason why you cant, just means you have to sheet the other pnls with 1/16 from about the gun bays out and build up as necessary with 3/32 and cap strips etc, if you look back afew pages in this thread there pic of what you want.

Bob my tips are on . you have any ideas on how to do it with the tips on .I did run an extra set of servo extinson wires becase I did not want to run them through the wheel well.thought it would be nice to have an extra set just in case one set went bad I would not have to tear out the wheel well to replace them.so i have the wire there all ready.

im making the fabric covered areas open as on the real bird and covering them with coverite. Ive done the top of the port wing and she is pretty rigid. when i do the bottom she will lock into place. I dont see a need to sheet the open areas. the wing spars LE and TE are plenty strong enough. Coverite is made to be the covering on fabric covered wings. Ive got to get the camera working and learn how to download

Hey guys,
Here's the cockpit, in rough form, I need to modify the left & right panel a bit so to allow for the rails from hitting up against them, might have to add some kind of blocking just below the rails.
Please feel free to comment.

Anyone interested,

I started a thread for my build of the 1/8 scale TF Corsair the little brother of the Giant TF Corsair on this Forum. It will help me get ready for the build of the Giant Corsair. I intend to follow along here and get as many more ideas from all of you so I can do the same to my smaller version. I will be starting the build on Monday or Tuesday and will be posting many pictures along the way.

Hope to see you on my thread,

Gibbs

Cimara,
after I perform surgery on the pilot I'll put up a pic of him, right now he's stands 6'-0"he's got to be shorter to be in line for scale, I read in some of my info that WWII pilots were between
5'-0"and 5"-9" so I got to get out the scapel, he's going to be 5'-9", after I get that done I'll put up a pic of my manual sliding canopy.I am not HAPPY with the end results, needless to say I really messed up 1 canopy, and had to reorder another one. but if worse comes to worse I can always do another.

Hey GUYS,
Before I forget what types of fuel tanks are being used?
there has got to be something out there besides Dubro,I just don't like that brand.

I normally use Hayes but, they don't make a 32 oz.

Your pic's would not come thru on the E-Mail you sent, some how I have a fire wall that I don't seam to be able to delete, so I guess all you can do is post on the thread. I think your pilot is a B/B LT. Miller. If so his boots are way out of scale, so pull them off and make boots right on his toes, with epoxy paint to souit, then slide his pants up and take about a 1/4 out of his calf/shinn, (what ever you call that part between his ancle and knee), and you should have a close fit.

George,

Try Sullivan, they make great tanks. I've never bought anything as large as a 32oz, but I guess I will. Why don't you care for Dubro?

Good morning Every one

Got to ask why the big tank?? I understand if your were going to use a stink pot engine, but with the fuel burn rate on the gasser why cary the extra weight, most flyers around hear have flight of 7 to 15 min so unless you are running full bore a 16 or 24 oz is more than enough, any way I have had the best lock with Hayes tankes have fuuuun
