Motobox passes though the entire fuse and is light but also pre-tri-stocked all around.
The cosntrcution looks great... tight... very well interlocked laser cut parts.
Designed for pull-pull elevator and rudder setup

Quique will offer this plane with a Hacker combo... a brand new motor & ESC that will rock the electric world...
The motor is the Hacker A30-14L and the ESC the NEW X-55 Pro... it supports up to 6 digital servos and 4 cells with BEC enabled!!!
The setup is designed to run on 3S 3200-4200 packs... will be testing the Flightpower EVO 20 3300 and 3700 packs...
New technology included will also be discussed in teh upcoming review... but for now wanted to share some of the tidbits...

David,
What servos are you planning on running in your yak review plane? I really like the duel rudder and elevator pull-pull setup. Do you know when the 14L and X-55 will be available as both of these are not even on the Hacker website yet?

Sorry I missed this post....
I'll be using the HiTec HS-81MG's perfect fit and excellent torque/speed... the bays are too large for an HS-65... though adapter plates could be magde up pretty easily...
Still... once you see this plane... 65's will drop right out of mind...

After testing a 55 amp ESC is overkill and they will be including a 40 amp ESC... but still the new tehnology...
X-40-SB-Pro
Size: 75x28x10mm
Weight: 43g (1.4oz)
Operating voltage: 2-6LiPo/8-18NC
Rating: 40A
2-6 Servos
These new PRO controllers (40 amp+) feature a "switching BEC" which basically means it creates more BEC handling headroom as needed... This allows the 40, 55 and 70 amp to support up to 6 digital servos! NO separately BEC required! Plus the 40amp+ does this on 4 cells without having to disable the onbaird BEC...
They also feature a USB programmability now!!!
In addition, further testing has shown phenominal performance from 4S packs as well... So I'll be testing the 3 cell packs listed above as well as 4S 2500 and 3300 pack...
On 4S the suggested prop will be an APC 12x6E and on 3S a 14x7E...
The A30-14L is a 500 watt motor... here's the specs:
Rec Prop Range: 12x6-14x7
# of cells: 3-4 lipo
Cont. Current: 23A
Max Burst CUrrent (15 secs) 35
Idle Current (Io) 1.8 A
Resistance (Ri) (Ohm) 0.036
Rpm/Volt (Kv) 800
Weight 5.1 oz (143 gr)
They state it's good for 3D up to 3.1 lbs

Finalization of the combo packages is still being worked on...
It's a larger plane, motor and battery pack so I expect it to be somewhat more than slightly smaller products/combos we've seen in the past... but definitely wihtin the realm of affordable...

According to the somenzini website, the plane is now shipping. Has anyone got one yet?
I'm thinking of buying one, however my negative experience with my mini Funtana X has somewhat put me off electrics, although I still love my foamies.
I would also like to see a picture of the plane in the Brio scheme.

Thanks. The two schemes look fairly similar and I guess I was just looking at the basic colours and didn't realize there were pictures of both schemes.
I prefer the brio scheme myself, although both are nice. I already have a QQ Yak 72", so I would like something a bit different from that.

The older QQ scheme is much easier to bling out with graphics, and retains the classic QQ yak paintjob seen on hundreds of QQ yaks throughout the years.
Im going for the QQ scheme on mine.
I had bad experiences with the Brio, and dont want that jinxed thing anywhere near my other planes.

Could you tell us the problems you had with your Brio?
Is this plane the Brio, that QQ has modified?
Reports I read on the Brio were not great, although I own QQ 73", and it is an outstanding aircraft in all respects.
Cheers

Yes... it would do a very nice job on either the 3S 3300's propped for around 44 amp (max 30 secs) and 470 watts or 4S 2500's propped for around 500-550 watts... (around 35-40 amps)
I'm guessong a 13x6.5 - 14x7 on 3s and 12x6 -13x6.5 om 4s... check amps/watts with a wattmeter...

RE: Quique 49" Yak - Review Sneak Preview
YakPak,
I was refering to the little Brio 10. Mine was plagued with a snap stall tendancy that I never did get worked out. High speed, low speed didnt matter. Once it got to a certain point...snap..stall and spin. If I was lucky enough to have enough altitude I could recover. But the problem was I never knew when or where it was going to do it. I spent countless hours tweaking on linkages, swapping servos and recievers, adjusting incidences, adjusting throws, adjusting CG's , thrust angles, props, spinners, everything I could think of. The last flight with it, I was doing a rolling circle, and right as it was about to get to the backside of the rolling circle, it just snapped, and spun into the ground for no apparent reason. After it crashed I inspected the plane. Aside for normal crash damage, nothing was wrong, all servos still functioned properly, everything was ok.
At that point I pretty much determined that there was some drastic flaw in the design, and gave up on it. I am not the only one that experienced this problem. It seems based on the internet threads that its kind of hit or miss as to whether your purchase will do it or not. To date, nobody has come up with a specific reason or fix on how to correct it. Really a shame, because when it wasnt going nuts, it flew very well. I personally still think it has something to do with that vent hole in the bottom acting like a huge airscoop or drag brake or something, but Im not willing to get another one to test the theroy.
It should also be noted, that while the Brio 10 is a QQ design it is not manufactured by QQ Aircraft Co.....had it been, it probably wouldnt have this problem. After my frustration with it, I dont want anything to do with anything resembling that Brio...just bad juju for me.

bdavidson,
Wow, sounds like you had your hands full with that Brio.
Maubid has a great deal of experience in this sport, maybe he could jump in and give us his thought s on this.
My only concern with ordering QQ new 49" , is it a Brio in QQ clothing!
I can tell you the QQ 73" is an outstanding plane in all respects, I am just a little concerned the 49" is actually the Brio, which does not have a great flight report that I have read.
What do you think?
