turning a tornado into a TRUGGY

RE: turning a tornado into a TRUGGY
bigger tires, lower gearing and different body mounts for a truck body, i was doing it but decided to just change the rims body and wing since i have 2 tornado xp's and wanted one different. Basically you end up with a tsunami or stadium truck with a wing.

RE: turning a tornado into a TRUGGY
so a tsunami and a tornado are that similar?
i have that hpi clutch bell with the 1 tooth taller gearing(works great btw) can i get the same thing with lower gearing?
will the rims and tires from a tsunami fit? i tried to put the rear rims on the front and they didnt clear.
is the gearing on a truck the same as my xp?
sorry so many Q? i just like the stance of my buddys hpi mt2

The tunami it the same size at the hpi mt, i have it sitting next to the tsunami i got friday. I put 2.2 traxxas rear tires on it with pro line gladiator's but the gearing was too high and it had no low end and wouldnt shift, i put the single speed in it from the tornado lx and a 15t clutch bell. i was going to put a truck body on it but decided to get white rims will smaller tires, i didnt like the look with the bigger tires so i will put them on the tsunami. if you look at my earlier pictures you can see it with the bigger tires. i posted a picture of what it looks like now.

whilst things may fit, you do need different gearing to compensate for the larger wheels. Thats why you experience a very slow take off but ultimately high top end. Ideally you would run a larger main spur gear but if thats not possible, you have to drop as many teeth on the clucth bell as you can possibly find.

the white rims i used are traxxas white rears, the other hpi rims are good too, i have the road hawgs on my rusler on road rims. all good choices.

get this setup, it will be perfect for it, i have it on one of my tornado xp's, it comes with clutch bell too. http://www.clermontmotorsports.com/s...iff-kit/Detail
if you want to keep it a 2 speed, you will need this to lower the gearing for bigger tires:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXM730
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0001P?&I=LXM861

make sure you have the same size tires and rims or you will have a problem, they have to be the same diameter.
