I have been flying mine with a APC 14x4W (wide), this prop works very well for type of A/c. I have picked up some Zinger Pro 14x4's to try, but have not flown it yet. I want to try the wood Zonger Pro because they are lighter (need tail weight) and will spool up quicker.

Thanks, Mark for the quick response. Have you tried any of the 13 inch props with the OS 70 yet and how did they respond? I was thinking of maybe more in the line of regular aerobatics rather than 3D to begin with?

Tony, I went with what local flyers are using, I haven't done much experimenting myself.

See if your 70 won't pull an APC 14x4W prop for 3D. Best of luck,

Ernie

Just ran across this thread and thought I would post a couple of pics of my Reactor. Please excuse the poor quality photos, they were taken from my phone.

Ernie,

Only twice so far, but I've been out of town and this a busy time of year at my job. Hopefully things will settle down soon and I can get more acquainted with the Reactor. Do you have any pics to share of your plane? How close are you to getting it in the air?

Hi Erik, I got a lot done on it this weekend and might have it in the air in a week or so. Get to fly your Reactor this weekend?

My flying schedule is pretty lame. Weekends are not an option. I'm limited to weeknights after work, and typically only one or two at the most. This week I snuck in three, however. I flew the Reactor a few more times and really like it a lot. I still don't have enough time on it to be really comfortable yet, but I'm getting there. Perhaps by 2009, I'll feel confident enough to try a loop. LOLOLOL

It is nose heavy. I'll start inching the CG back soon, but for now I want to get comfortable with its characteristics. Have you maidened yours yet?

The firewall has noticeable right thrust built into it. Is this what you mean?

Ernie, any joy yet?

Other Topic --- fuel tank padding???

I'm ready to finish my tank/fuel dot installation. The instructions and the design don't provide for any padding against vibration for the tank. The area is very tight around the tank, etc. Is everybody (nitro heads) just not padding their tank?? I will use a Saito .82 for vibration so has the stock tank installation worked for 4 cycles????? Thanks for any input!!![8D]

Hi Gary, I opened up the former around the tank a little bit and put a small amount of foam under the tank just for peace of mind. Most haven't even done that and have no foaming problems though for some reason.

Hi Erik, yes, maidened the Reactor and then have been working a lot since. The stock gear was totally useless on our grass field, even with the redrilled holes, and then turning it around. Nothing worked at all, so now have the UCanDo gear on it like Rob. He has his flying really good now! Been flying yours much yet?

I think he means his plane appears to have upthrust built into it.

Ernie,

Glad to hear it's been maidened. I'm guessing you like the way she flies??? After several more flights on mine, I too got tired of the constant attention it takes to prevent a nose over. Combined with my less than perfect landings, I could see many broken props in my future. I broke down and ordered the carbon gear discussed in the Reactor landing gear thread. They haven't arrived yet, but I'm hopeful they will solve the problem.

Our RC field is an irrigated carpet of thick grass cut to 3/8 of an inch by a golf course mower. Will I also have extreme difficulty with the stock Reactor gear? I'm good a take offs and landings. I'm used to holding full up with my Sportster until it gets going fast enough to stay level. Would the 3D throw of the Reactor be enough to hold the nose up during take off??? Thanks for any input!!

Edited to correct the cutting height---it should be 7/8 inch. We just got a new mower and it looks like 3/8 inch though.

Gary,

I wouldn't hesitate to give it a shot. My problem was landing more than taking off and taxiing. Full up on high rate should keep the tail fairly well planted. Mine never nosed over while taxiing or taking off, only on landing, and even then, only once. If you can grease it in more often than not, you may not have any problem with the stock gear in stock configuration. My lame thumbs simply weren't up to the task.

Hi Gary, give it a shot like Erik says. I had to give it a shot too but wasn't able to do very well. Actually it could cost you the plane because the stock legs are so springy that the wheels tend to toe-out in the grass while having to hold up elevator. This makes the plane want to hug the ground and not take off, a real pain.

Hi Erik, hey was that a 40 size Dubro tail wheel that you used? I used that same one and the wire seems too weak. It wants to keep bending flat so I'll probably go to something heavier......
