Hey guys,
I'm new to racing electrics and just purchased a B4. What motor and battery packs should I drop in this thing. And where should I buy them. Thanks

if you plan on racing in the stock class buggy then this motor [link]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLXT7&P=ML[/link]
and for batteries i would suggest at least 3 of these if you plan on racing [link]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLZK5&P=7[/link]
what kind of charger do you have?

i use ib 4200 matched cells and that is the same motor that i have in my b4 you just have to make sure that your esc is on the stock motor profile and u just have to keep and eye on the temp when you are practicing but for a race I assume 5-6 minutes you will be fine.

if racing stock or 19turn spec then look at motors from cobalt trinity checkpoint and orion. as for batts you should get something with a 30amp discharge rate. I will suggest gp ib or dtx(people think dtx sucks but I use em and they run cooler than my friends ib during runs and charging. ohh and my dtx 3800mah lasts as ong as both my friends ib 4200mahs with equal punch) and get a good charger. also don't use tamiya connectors, use ultra deans or power poles.

I would definantly suggest buying a nice charger also like this one [link]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXUF46&P=7[/link] beleive me it is worth spending the money on a nice charger especially if you are going to stick with the hobby for awhile i learned that the hard way and just some things to look for in buying a charger is how high of a charge rate is has 5 amps is a good number and does it discharge the batteries I sugested above can be discharged at up to 35 amps but the charger I suggested only does it at 10 amps and that will be plenty for you and if you are going to race seriously then i would get the charger i just suggested and those batteries or something equivalent to them

[link]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXUF46&P=7[/link] look at this picture a minute the charger only charges at up to 6.5 amps the lcd screens says 9.16 and the switch is on output amps. I dont understand it!

Thanks for the good info. I bought the trinity motor today, already an improvement and thats on unmatched packs.

Another Question: how many tooth pinon are you guys running. I have ~19 tooth pinon in right now, has alot of torque. Also, what are the best tires for the job?

What are power poles and where do i find them???

Thanks for all the help. I love the B4 so far, it takes a beating and keeps on ticking. Probably handles the beating better than my LST2.

When I had my 27 turn monster motor I ran it with 22/81 gearing you get plenty on speeds and torque.

Things you should buy:

Pinion Gears: [link]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXEX34&P=ML[/link]
Tires Rear: [link]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDU13&P=ML[/link]
Tires Front:[link]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDU14&P=7[/link]

There are 3 types of connectors that people recomend the most. They are Powerpoles,Deans Ultra Plugs, and Astroflight Zeroloss Connectors.

Power Poles:[link]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXD175&P=7[/link]
Deans Ultra Plugs:[link]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKX39&P=ML[/link]
Astroflight Zeroloss :[link]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LX3604&P=7[/link]

Also when making these orders use code
Save 10.00 on 24.99 or more 010F3 on your seperate orders.

I am not really sure. The carbon fiber looks pretty thick and durable. Why not give it a try it looks cool.

the only thig with carbon fiber is that it will get scraped away after awhile so i would get the aluminum unless you plan on racing then I would keep it stock because I don't break mine that much. but if yoou are bashing then go all aluminum and slap a real low turn motor and esc on their and bash teh heck out of it.

yea that is true but the only thing on my buggy that is not graphite are the front arms other than that I replace it with graphite because it does not break that often.

graphite is more brittle than the plastic...graphite does not have the give that the plastic does hints why racers dont use them on the a arms at all, they replace them with the plastic. graphite is ment for a more rigid car and will break more often than the plastic. just wanted to let all you guys know.

Plastic has more flex which is good because it takes the impact and your car will also handle better.
Graphite breaks when you put to much impact and also breaks alot when it is cold.

yea all graphite really does is it makes the car more ridgid so therfore a little less body roll and slightly lighter but barely lighter than plastic. I was talkign to the guy down at the track and he said that it is really personal opinion what you use graphite or plastic because to guys like that (he used to be sponsered by ae) can decifer how a graphite shock tower and a plastic shock tower make the car handle differently, and he said on his ft t4 that he replaces the chassis and front shock tower with plastic not because he breaks graphite to much it is because he likes the way it handles better.

Here's a few I took of my Team Kit.
I really should have got the factory team, but it was over 3 years ago and didnt notice a difference.
But it's so obvious now!
