I Swear by them, I have a Imex Fail safe with sound in every one of my cars and we sell one with just about every car we sell. Good investment for the Imex with sound it monitors the battery voltage.

I use a venom. First time I run the truggy it took off on me,had new batteries but one was still bad right out of the pack(duracells).
It was quite scary watching the truck heading for the neighbours house wide open. Luckly it hit a dip and flipped over, no damage.
I won't run without one now.I strongly suggest using one .

stops your nitro if it gets out of range.
i use one because i drive in open places and have more chances of a run away nitro.
not like if you ran in confined areas or tracks you have less chances of it do it .

RE: Fail Safes: whos using em?
I use the IMEX RC one as well, and love it
Although my running yesterday I didn't know WTH was going on with it, failsafe didn't help but luckily I ran it back towards myself and caught it ... it was going half throttle and I could not slow it down or stop it with the failsafe (it was beeping too) ... reason - there was a rock lodged behind the throttle lever where the spring was and it would not go back.
Whewww that was close ... my bro-in-law who does not have one, had a set of dying batteries in his and ran it into my neighbors house (garage wall) and luckily only broke his t-bone bumper. I told him though, he needs to get that failsafe.
Watch for our videos soon, they'll be jumping and tearing up some perfect construction areas .... shoulda had video yesterday.

i have one in the xtm xt2, that how i determined the radio was bad. the car would go about 30 feet and stop(with failsafe) or take off full speed or turn by itself with out it
it's scarry having your $300 car running full speed toward a busy road and no control
i use the xtm model about $19.00...plug and play!!!!
i'm going to get them for my redcats...so my cats wont run off!!!!

RE: Fail Safes: whos using em?
yeah a totally indispensable item definately! I dont know how you can bash without them to be honest. My advice is avoid the venom Smart temp!! Like someone else said, the simpler the better. I have found the smart temps to be problematic at best so I switched back to just a standard failsafe. These work great!
