broke controller antenna
It was bent, I tried to straighten it out , you know redcat quality, it broke. I didnt try it if it still controlls the truck. It prolly would but not less distance. Anyways should get a new one? What are my choices. Definatly dont want to spend too much money on this truck anymore.

RE: broke controller antenna
Get a piece of coat hanger and strip off the coating at one end about an inch, clean it and solder it inside the between the two borken pieces.

RE: broke controller antenna
Any reason why you just cant go buy another antenna from your local hobby shop? That seems to be the easiest choice right?
In regards to the redcat radio system, I know they are very buggy but I found with mine that it was the crystals that were poor quality and the reason for the poor performance. I replaced them with different cystals out of another radio and I have not had any issues or glitching since. Interestingly when I took my radio into my LHS they actually said its a rebranded Futaba radio system which I found hard to believe but they are not the only shop to say the same thing.

RE: broke controller antenna
oh hey ya, if it's a redcat controller it will unscrew and you can screw a new one in, if you have a spare one, if not solder a piece of coat hanger between the two pieces. Ya know about the futaba thing, there OEMs for all kind of RTR cars just with a different branding, I'm very much of the opinion (can't prove it yet, lol) that the VX engines are rebranded HPI engines, I have several times rebuilt VX engines using HPI parts and they run spuperbly. Piston, Sleeve, crank, Con Rod, head back plates, pull start and block are all interchangeable between the two engines. Matter of fact Cen Racing is using the VX engines in a few of there ready to runs but they are using a 2 channel programable digital controller and reciever, with LCD screen, from Futaba, nice radio.
